The ENPCP has issued this press release out of its concern about a comment which was posted on the website of AIGA Forum, www.aigaforum.com on August 4, 2009. The comment that has subsequently been removed from the website and reported by other websites reads as follows:-

“…The misguided extremist Diasporas have been cheering up for the last couple of days. You know why? Hillary Clinton will not visit Ethiopia during her trip to Africa. Hmm! Who cares if the N**** administration ignores Ethiopia?! Have your say.”

To the best of our knowledge www.aigaforum.com is owned and operated by an individual that has close contacts with senior members of the Government of Ethiopia. For years, the website has been advancing the policy of the Tigrai People Liberation Front (TPLF), the ruling core in Ethiopia. The articles that appear on this website often contain insensitive and outrageous statements that are contrary to the mainstream thinking of Ethiopians. It often undermines the core values of Ethiopians and Ethiopia’s contribution to the liberation of Africa, and the civil rights movement in the United States. It is unaware of the contributions of African Americans to the liberation of Ethiopia from Fascist Italy during WW II. The present incidence is only one of www.aigaforum.com’s ignorant and outrageous statements. Such ignorant and hurtful comment must be condemned. ENPCP therefore joins others and condemns the rather racist and ignorant remarks posted on AIGA Forum.

The editors of the website must take full responsibility for the derogatory statement posted on their site, and make a full public apology. The statement is an embarrassment to 80 million Ethiopians, including the Tigrean community which the website purports to serve.

ENPCP is a network of eight rights based Ethiopian civic society organizations. For more information about ENPCP see www.enpcp.org or www.enpcp.net.

May God Bless Ethiopia!
