Dear Prime Minister Meles

We are writing this on behalf of the Solidarity Movement for a New Ethiopia due to serious concerns we have with your regime. With all due respect, we must confront you with the truth—you and your supporters have put the lives and national interests of the Ethiopian people in great and urgent jeopardy.

I don’t understand! Sure, it is a well written letter but I think the author needs to realize that you can never win someone’s heart by attacking them. I mean we have seen it many times in the past. It does not work. We have to change how we deal with issues like this. A good start might be to start with a complement and then make your point. It is effective and the receiver won’t see it as a treat but as an advice. I will tell you this, we have every right to be angry about what is going on back home, but blaming someone for it will never solve it. Instead it will polarize us from each other. We will grow to misunderstand each other. So please next time you write a letter write it in a civilized manner, try to avoid the mistakes we Ethiopian Diaspora tend make by being emotional. Thank you.
