Meles Zenawi jails two young fiery critics By Abebe Gellaw

September 14th, 2011 Print Print Email Email

The Vice President of Unity for Democracy and Justice Party, Andulalem Andargie, and journalist Enskinder Nega have reportedly been detained by security agents in Addis Ababa.

Andulam was picked up late afternoon at UDJ’s headquarters while Eskinder was reportedly arrested at the same time but at a different location. The two fiery critics of the Meles regime have been vocal about the rights of the Ethiopian people to live in freedom. Eskinder and Adualem have recently said that the people of Ethiopia must intensify their struggle to end tyranny, oppression and abuses at the hands of the Meles regime.

Aklog Limenh, Chairman of UDJ North America Association of Support Organizations, said that the latest round of arrest is only symptomatic of the desperation of the regime. He pointed out that such a blatant measure would backfire as it would inspire the people to intensify their struggle for freedom.

He said that Ethiopians are tired of bowing to tyranny and oppression. “The more people are abused and their inalienable rights violated, the more they rise up in greater resolve. The struggle has to continue and nothing will hold back Ethiopias from demanding an end to indignity and abuses.”

In his recent articles, journalist Eskinder Nega has been boldly calling on his fellow countrymen to take inspiration from the gallant peoples of North Africa. In an article he wrote in connection with the incarceration of Artiste Debebe Eshetu, Eskinder had predicted that the Ethiopian new year would be a year “when Ethiopians will no more be incarcerated for their political convictions…There will no more be tortures in our prisons, Ethiopians will no more have reasons to flee to exile…” Contrary to his prediction, the year has started with his own detention.

“2004 could be the year when we, too, like the majority of our fellow Africans, will have a government by the people, for the people,” Eskinder wrote.

In a New Year message, UDJ had called on the people of Ethiopia to rise up to defend their freedom. “The Ethiopian New Year of 2004 should not continue to be a year of darkness as have been the years in the past. It must be a year of legal and peaceful struggle. The struggle we wage must be one that brings an all-round freedom to the Ethiopian people, including the members of EPRDF. The struggle must be free from racism, vengeance and bitterness,” UDJ said.

UDJ underscored that this New Year must be a year people cease pointing fingers at each other and get united to wage nonviolent struggle for freedom.”The dawning of the New Year must also be the dawning of freedom which we have been hungering for years,” the release stated.

The Meles regime has recently charged a record number of journalists with acts of terrorism. Reyot Alemu, columnist for Fiteh, Deputy Editor of Awramba Times, Woubeshet Taye, editor of US-based Ethiopian Review website, Elias Kifle and two Swedish journalists, Johan Persson and Martin Schibbye have been facing terrorism charges.

Famed artiste Debebe Eshetu was also detained at the weekend. He was also accused of plotting terrorism. Sources close to Debebe say that he was detained at a time when he was preparing to release his book, which is said to be an explosive account of abuse of power in Ethiopia.

Reports from Ethiopia consistently indicate that popular discontent has been significantly increasing as a result of oppression, skyrocketing cost of living, inflation, tax burden and confiscation of private property.

With the intensification of this new web of arrest of the many innocent civilians, there is a high probability that this report can be true. If so this is also a proof that every weyane is peeing on his pants.Weyane need to keep enough supply of diaper stocked up for the coming days.
On the serious end, though, we need to stage demonstration against weyane perpetrated state terror against Ethiopians. This time, as we start to take the street for the cause of Ethiopians, there is a high probability the so-called members of “the teletafi Parties” will find a chance to distant themselves from the regime. This is not a time for the opposition to SLEEP. Wake up my people! Once again let us hit weyane where it hurts the most: expose her state sponsored terror, to the world body at large, against innocent Ethiopians

Meles needs to pay substantial attention to what happened the Shah of Iran, Mobutu and the darling of George Bush, Mubark in the recent past.US does not need what nodody else wants. He and his TPLF thugs with their little caliber know it in their heart-of-hearts their days are numbered. Why arrest Oromos, poor journaliest and activiests. The stratgum TPLF desparetly tries to apply to Ethiopia as a tiny minority controling the majority like Rhodisia and South Africa did in the past must be a salutry lesson. This folly does not get them nowhere. It will never workout, period. We will see very soon Meles’ chopped head being displayed on the golden platter in the street of Mogadishu to the glee of Shebab jiahdists.Inshaa Alah

Boku woyes niket? ( are they scared or has no respect ) for the people? Hope they are scared. I think they are they better because they are wrong.

What should we say now? If we wore well organized it was war or serious talk time in the world arena or on tue real
But it is and we are on the real no matter what kind of power we have. Our issue and power, agenda is the people and the country in general so, people let’s stand together we will win.

The time for to say release political prisoners please has passed it is time to give them an order. Release them period……is what we should say. This is beyond tolerance. What did this people do except standing for the people and the country. And we are the people people. We need to stand for them. We are Ethiopians no matter who we think we are ethnically or what ever. This are people who cares about Ethiopia and it’s people in General. And who have been through so much and have done so much for the country already. We can’t watch this to go on like this and this people
Needs to go out of prison today and they are not suppose to be there yesterday or any day.

So release all political prisoners. Release Debebe Eshetu, Andualem Andargie, Eskinder Nega and all political prisoners. We might be giving you a choice. Other wise you know what is coming.

With misguided diaspora attacking the opposition, woyanes do not have to worry much. Hang in there, in a few days you will hear some eprp wackos start saying Andualem and Eskinder went to jail voluntarily to help woyanes. We are retarded people. The Japanese scientist may have something there when he concluded that the overwhelming majority of Ethiopians could be classified as retarded or less intelligent than the average human being. I swear I kind of believe the scientists conclusion.

What in the world is going on? I read this journalist-Eskinder- a lot and he makes a great deal of sense and nowhere he advocated violence and it seems any critic of the regime is considered terrorist. If not today this power of theirs will be gone tomorrow and to act savage for the sake of this ungauranteed status is shere madness or just being out of ones mind. I hope there are few among the ruling elites who would advise the perpetrators of this savagery to come to their senses and rather acknowledge the aspiration of the people for greater freedom and democracy. This, so called Limatawi mengist ideology has not worked for the people, only for those who use it to amass wealth.
Free all political prisoners immediately…..and remember Power belongs to the PEOPLE…..not you EPRDF/TPLF…..

The man,Meles Zinawi who more or less had a troubled personality hates Ethiopians very deeply. He has urgent desire to kill Ethiopians than to fight hunger and famine. After having took up a name from a dead-man,this notorious robber,Meles Zinawi entered Ethiopia disgusing as an Ethiopian. He has no control over his addictions:Khat,Alchol,Blood, and flesh.

Yes,he had worked with and for the enemies of Ethiopia along with the men and the women who regarded him as the spokesman.Of course, journalists have been following up all the crimes this robber committed against citizens and still are keeping track of new crimes the robber is committing day-in-day-out and reporting to fellow Ethiopians and the world community.Zinawi, the robber is terrorizing towns and cities, men and women, young and old,and politicians and journalists. How can you be sure that this robber will not shoot babies?

Saddam Hussen was sentenced to hanging,Bin Laden was shot dead and was captued, and Gaddafi is being hunted down.Zinawi must be stopped from terrorizing millions of citizens, spent the last twenty years of his troubled life murdering and looting Ethiopians,he is sick, and he is glorifying his mastery of deceit and murder. In one of his TV broadcast,Zinawi the robber told Ethiopians and the world community,”There is drought but there is not hunger and death.” Yet we know, the world knows that millions are dying in East,Central,North, and South Ethiopia.

We shall continue the struggle against our common enemy and end the struggle in victory and nourish our childreen with food and democracy.

Woyannie, fears no body!!I have been in ethiopia in early August, I have heard no one pointing fingers on the government on the poor living standards in Addis or Gondar.
What I observed is the people is living in a deep-sleep and day dreaming. Many of the individuals I talked expect God to come back on earth and rescue them from their day-to-day misery. The majority of my friends, which were active anti-meles back in 2005, are now members of the meles regime!!

Based on my observations, Meles’s action in jailing prominent figures is not based on fear to his rule. but it is based on disrespect(niket) to the people and I believe, he took these measures to posture how strong he is in the ethiopian hemisphere.

Further more I dont blame him, after seeing how narrow minded is the ethiopian diaspora here in washington. I have heard one saying he is from Oromia, not ethiopia!!!what a fuck!he lives in america…….but his way of thought stinks-dedeb!!!SO how do you blame Meles if he plays a game on that racially divided, ignorant, corrupt , and ‘asmesay’ people? I dont.

Upon close examination, you can’t help but notice the light at the end of the tunnel. One can say Meles Zenawi is literally shitting on his pants. In other words, he is panicking so much so to the point where he can’t trust his own shadow. There will be more arrests and killings ahead. Meles will unleash his dogs all over Ethiopia, tightening the noose around opposition parties and prominent opposition figures alike in the coming days. It wouldn’t surprise me if he gives order to kill some of his own followers. Such is a desperate move on the part of dictators whose days are numbered. Melese’s sixth sense is telling him that there is a dark cloud hanging over him, sort of the calm before the storm. The storm is coming alright!! So, Meles finds himself in the first stages of a crackdown by arresting mainly journalists who dared to speak against him. Assassinations will follow under the excuse of anti-terrorism law.

What to do? My advice to the opposition is to dig in your heels now that you are smelling blood. When you smell blood–you go for the kill. All the signs are urging you to take the struggle up a notch. I have said it before and i will say it again. Woyane needs to be provoked into shedding plenty of blood in the open. Why ” in the open”? because god only knows how many lives are cut short secretly in woyane’s dungeons. Let’s take the struggle to the street and finish it in the street. There is no other way. What’s Meles going to do? kill 80 million people! It beats dying a slow death anyway. The duplication of the last massacre (mircha 97) will certainly bring woyane down to its knees. All we need is that one spark that we witnessed in the Arabs uprising. It took three individuals to ignite the North African revolution: Hamza khatib of Syria, Mohamed Bouazizi of Tunisia and Khalid Said of Egypt. Who will go on the honor list of Ethiopian history? Failure is not an option. In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr.” we must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” Amen!!

FREE ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS IN ETHIOPIA!!!!!

The woyane believe that they have done enough to dismantle the unity that existed in the past between the people. They believe that the Ethiopian people are disorganised, separated on ethnic lines that the oromo does not care what happens to the amhara or the sidama, the guraghie does not care what happened to the afar or the somali or the tigre. Emphasing his ethno-fascist policy , Meles also said ‘what has Axum to do with Gambella’. That is how the woyane view Ethiopia as a whole.

The woyane would hope that the seed of hatred and division they have planted among the people would divert the attention away from them and instead people would just fight among themselves, people would spend their energy blaming one ethnic group or other for their misery.

To a point, the division among the people is what is benefiting the woyane. Would the Ethiopian people as a whole, the amhara, tigre, oromo, gambellan, etc stand shoulder to shoulder and face the attrocities of the woyane.

One can look at the propaganda of some of the ethnic liberation fronts. Instead of aiming their guns at the woyane some of them still cry out the amahara as their main target.

Unless the people direct their attention on the real enemy, they will continue to remain slaves of the woyane for decades to come.

Opposition parties are in disarray with in fighting and struggling for power before they get it,and power which they do not have.

therefore we have a lot which is against us and this is the reason why the woyane are playing rough shod with us.

What is very sad for me to observe from some of the comments here is how nearly everyone calls for someone else to do this or that and never about how they will go back and do something about this or that. That is the problem. As long as you sit in your chair and try to tell people what to do, nothing is going to happen. That only thing that will happen is, the same old same old.

If you are mad about what is happening, go back to Ethiopia and do sometning about it yourself. Period! Stop your crazy politika and start doing something.

This is all a theatre. They will be realesed soon on bail and if they are not, they are spending a liesure time. The so called fierce oppositions and haters are all the theatre characters of the white man. Some journalists and even so called oppositions are mercenaries of the white man that are trying to act as if they are opposers of the regime. Both the regime and some oppositions, not all, are all mercenaries of the white man that are trying to act like they oppose each other. Look at them, they all are running a decent life working as oppositions. Where do they get the $ to live with? Ethiopia is expensive now days and you would not administer your self with politician salaries or working full time for the movement. you can’t even afford it with a regular job in a good company. Where do all ONC, the beyene petroses, and the medrek get all their money from? G7 and OLF are also mercenaries of the white man acting like they are organizations that are implementing force. They both are not and they have diddly on the real movement, nothing. So, the regime will keep on talking as if they are something and they will keep on acting like if they are tough. All theatre! You know what that does? It will keep Ethiopians’ hands thight. They wouldn’t pick up the gun thinking there are already movements out there. It is all a theatre my friends. You people in the diaspora really need to know who the real Ethiopian fighter are. Do your homework. At this time AEUP is the only way to go.

Bimm has the insight and the the perception about the ethnic and secessionist politics and/or policies with ethnicferalism and secessionism with underlying totaliarinism that has permeated into the ethnic federalists (teletafi and loyalist opposition parties) and ethnic secessionists and their supporters directly and indirectly supporting ethnicferalism that hampered the unity/merging with the goals for unity, territorial integrity sovereignity of Ethiopia and Ethiopians. To the contrary the the Ethiopian society at large live in harmoney among each other as if the constitution of ethnic and secessionist policies, with underlying of totalirianism do not exist, eventhorgh they know it has contributed to the humanitarian, economic and political crises in Ethiopia. These crises will be resolved with ethnic federalists and ethnic secessionists abandoning the ethnic and secessionist politics and/or policies and/or policies with ethnicfederalism and secessionism together with totaliarinism stipulated in the constituion. This includes the UDJP to scale up its mantra of “no change but durable democracy” and its subset agenda of democracy, human rights and justice to the national agenda, where the focal points for ethnic federalists and the prodemocracy movements is to restore individual freedom and liberty, to restore Ethiopian Nationalism, Ethiopian National Interests and the sovereignity of Ethiopia as rallying points for non-violent uprising to freedom from autocratic rule, ethnocratic rule (minority or majority ethnic rule)/ethnic dictatorship, not mere dictatorship, nor repression or tyrranny as this article, stipulates, with no mention of prevailing totaliarinism, all which serve as impedance to capitalism and democracy, let alone freedom of the individual.

If the focus is not on the national agenda to save Ethiopia from disintegration, then it is reactionary and lacks the attribute of being visionay and revolutionary, resulting into a choas between those who want to maintain the status quo and those who want to dismantle the current constitutional order/frame work, to start a govenment by the people of the people and for the people as Eskinder aspired it to be.

If the focus is being reactionary, knowing TPLF/eprdf regime is set up to uphold the ethnic and/or seccessionist politics and or/policies of divide and rule policy and the seccession of Eritrea by any means, the challenge of which is considered as treason, in the same way the criticism of the Government by the opposition is considered as terrerosim by any of the opposition parties, under the newly crafted terrorist law, rsulting in imprisonment, which sends the pro-democracy movent and the loyalist opposition parties into a reactionary mode of protest for the release of the political prisonors, not condoning their imprisonment, rather than to rally the silent majority of Ethiopians for unity, territorial integrity, sovereignity of Ethiopia and Ethiopians to restore individual freedom and liberty, and restore Ethiopian nationalism, Ethiopian National Interests and the sovereignity of Ethiopia, an ideology in direct contrast to TPLF/eprdf regime and its explicit and implicit supporters.

Let’s us not rush to judgement. We all are here thousands of miles away and all truthful facts do not arrive here on timely fashion. I don’t really know Ato Andualem but I have read several articles written by Eskinder on this or other similar websites. Some of his articles made sense and others the jury is still our for me to pass any judgment. He seems a man who believes in peaceful transformation of a society which is very paramount for a society like ours. So in his articles that attracted my attention, he seemed a peaceful man. But I am here thousands of miles away and I have decided to wait until I hear the details of what he is charged with. Chaos and anarchism are not far away from the doorsteps of our society and it is a proven fact that there extremely hateful forces that are hatching harm to our peoples and country. It is my wish that this gentleman released on bail right away until his case is decided by the court. I don’t think all of a sudden he has become a self-blowing jihadist working for Al-Qaeda or Al-Shabab. Like I said I don’t really know about the others and let’s wait until we hear the details.

As a father myself, I am genuinely saddened that Ato Eskinder is not at home raising his toddler child. Children have instinct that tells them that the father they don’t see at home as before has some unpleasant reason behind it. That is why I call on Prime Minister Meles and other concerned officials to release At Eskinder on bail on humanitarian grounds. They should because this man does not have the attributes of a violent person. He should be provided with means to support himself and his family. I have no knowledge of the other individuals. They may have been wrongfully swayed by elements sitting in their comfy homes here or in Europe convincing these imprisoned individuals with a fantasy of the Arab Spring style uprising. But our country is made of a different set of peculiarities. These so-called opposition groups scattered all over the world are set to commit the same mistakes committed by the leaders and cadres of EPRP in 1976-78. They are on the record for making battle cries of popular uprising. Rise up they shouted!!! The Derg is on its deathbed they screamed!!! They sent tens of thousands of bar-handed of the young generation to their futile deaths. Some of those EPRP became victims of their foul play. And a few other scheming individuals ran for their lives to the bushes and overseas. They wrote books one after another and profited from the blood and futile sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of the cream of the crop of the society. Our country has still to recover from that loss. Sheer martyrdom fantasy will not further the accord but rather create another society sans the precious young. I don’t only have any respect for those groups like Gim/Boat7 and their comrade-in-arms but I despise them. I watched the speech made this Nega thing on this or another website and he left me scratching my head. He could not even express his idea in the language he grew up speaking. Mumbling, babbling, gabbling and sputtering to a land of nowhere!!!! And he wants to tell us that he is set to remove the government by any means necessary including violence while he is sitting here wandering which one he will have for dinner, filet mignon or rib roast!!! Sheer arrogance and hypocrisy !!! Some day he may end writing a book just to profit from the sacrifices of his ‘foot soldiers’. So-called leaders of OLF and ONLF are doing the same thing. They are shooting their ‘big guns’ from Minnesota to cover their army which have been on march to Addis Ababa since 1991 or 1984 or 1973 which ever their tell us to by on any given day. You guys are completely out of your minds. On the one hand you accuse the majority Ethiopians who reside outside their country for aspoussing violence. On the other hand, you criminalize every Ethiopian who reside inside the country who may be a member of oppostion political party such as UDJ’s Andualme Arage,Natnaiel Mekonnen,Asaminew Birhanu or none activists civilians such as Debebe Eshetu branding them terrorists.
Rehitoric a side ,in effect, the TPLF is saying to Ethiopias ,apart from TPLF and affilates there is no place for PEACEFUL OPPSTION PARTIES IN ETHIOPIA.Hence, that is why this sweep of arrest is taking place against innocent citizens who may be non violent oppostion members or ordinarycitizens. The government might have thought subjecting oppostion members to harish prison sentence can demolize their resolve. This is hardly the case;tyrranical and absolute dictatorial rule always as it is seen by TPLF will bread resentment by the larger segments of the socity prompting for more resolve.

    You wrote,

” I watched the speech made this Nega thing on this or another website”
This forum is dedecated for peaceful democratic change, and as such it did not post Nega’s speech any time before.I wnat you to know that you must have read it some where and not here.

    Dear anon:

You may be right about the fact where I saw this opportunist Nega making a speech. It may not be on this website for which I share your admiration for. In regards to those who were put under arrest back home beside Ato Eskinder, honestly, I have no idea who they are. I have the right to be careful and need facts before passing judgment. We should all agree and understand that things can easily go out of hand by actions of the few done inadvertently or knowingly. I also believe that such fear should not be used as an excuse to incarcerate innocent people. The world have heard all about this and keenly watching especially all powerful Western countries. I am a strong believer of the American foreign policy and in the ways it works with its Western allies. They are all waiting for the facts to come forward before passing any judgment. And that is what I am doing.

Now it is my turn to ask you a question or two.

    1) Lets say the current regime falls today. Do you think there is a strong and united political organization here or over there that can come in and run on landing? I am asking you to name one and explain it strength organization wise.
    2) What should be done to the current organizations back home that are part of the governing party? I mean TPLF, OPDO, ANDM, Afar/Somali fronts, Southern Peoples Party and Benishangul Gumuz Organization.
    3) Will the new government respond positively to the demands of independent-seeking fronts such as OLF and ONLF?
I want you to be specific in your answers and avoid dwelling too much on the nature of my questions. Like I said before I have nothing to hide. Atakilti is my name and the product of Ethiopia by way of Tigray.

    Dear anon:

I have been waiting for your answer since yesterday. It seems that you don’t see or cannot find any group or organization strong enough to replace the current regime and lead the country. That means you and those with same conviction like you are wrong in your assumptions and conclusions. You need to realize and more so must wake up to see what is really going on back home. The train of progress is moving faster and changing gears by the day. The conductor has made the last call!!! Our Good Ole’Ma Ethiopia is on the move!!!She is getting younger and stronger again with all nations and nationalities tucked under her wings on the basis that state and religions are clearly separated. God Bless Ethiopia and May God Also Bless The United States of America!!!!!!

The guy called Ataklti is woyane living abroad and he seems working in one of woynae’s embassy and his assignment is to read follow up defend and challenge any Diaspora consent and protests against his government. He started by spewing his hate propaganda against all opposition parties left and right in and out of the country, and start asking a proof whether the incarcerated people journalists and politicians are not really terrorists. Since he does not have proof, in his view they might be “terrorists” and trying to tell us that meles’s party is the only organized entity to lead that country and if the Ethiopian people revolts against woyane he warns that the consequence would be a catastrophic disaster. It is Atakiliti’s right to be a diehard woyane supporter or an advocate of the current regime, but condemning Debebe Eshetu, Eskinder Nega , Reeyot Alemu, Andulaem Arage, and Wubeshet Taye’s fate and all other political prisoners as a terrorist is a blinded judgment on his part and that automatically set him as a dishonest and crooked liar. He never needs a proof when Meles and co commits genocide on Gambella and Harrar region, embezzeled the countries resource, works hard to make the country landlocked, sold fertile lands to Arabs, Indians and Chinese to use our land and feed their people while millions of Ethiopians are starving to death every year at his watch for the last 20 years and tells to the world that his economy is grown by 11 % under his rule. Atakiliti does not need a proof when Meles gives the order shoot to kill and massacare 190 peaceful protestors and tell to the world that these were hooligans that attempts to rob a bank. What a biased and dirty conscience? When your master arrests peaceful people you need a proof and when he kills and steal you turn a blind eye. What a shame? As for your question and concern that says ’ if Meles goes the country will go down in to civil war rhetoric ´ or who will be the leader theory, that is the woyane propaganda, a sheer lie. According to atakility, if Meles goes the worst will happen theory I would say to him IT WILL BE A BLESSING AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. It was used in recent north African and middle east uprisings by Ali Abdellah saleh of Yemen, Hosni Mubarek of Egypt , Muamar Ghadafi of Libya and Ben Ali of Tunisia but nothing has happened to the people of those countries but something happened to the dictators, tyrants and an errand boys of tyrants like Atakilti.

So he is the father of horror and terror.Zinawi is a brutal domestic that can not be trained or refrained from committing atrocities on all Ethiopians. He’s got to go now!

May we,all renew our committiment to redouble our effort and accelerate the dawnfall of this monster; may we focus on fighting the enemy in every direction and crush it to its ocmplete defeat. So why not all of us bring our resources and energy together and invest it heavly on the victory that we sought when we first started our struggle against the enemy? Ethiopians,it’s worth it.

The enemy will never fall asleep,or is burnet out and needs a break from committing crimes, or is tired of looting and murdering citizens and will leave our country volunterly;Ethiopians, the enemy,it’s what it is;if it is left the way it is,it will ruin us.So we know the enemy is not an ordinary enemy nor it is neither a group of bandits;it is a highly organized army of criminals specializing in terrorizing Ethiopians. We know how bad Bin Laden was. This one,Zinawi,is the worst.let me guess, the enemy will definitely be defeated and Zinawi will be standing for a trial.

    To Yohannes Ke Dallas:

Thank you for your comment. I have read it more than once. You started out by committing a terrible sin form the get go. You called me a government spy or cadre. That is ‘Weyane’ in your terms. You have never met and know me close enough to level such erroneous allegations about me. I have told you all before I am telling you this now. I work hard and earn every thing I own by working hard. I am fiercely independent in my thought process and never had to ask for handout from the Government of Ethiopia. I went through college and possess an advanced degree in the engineering area. I am a plant manager in the state of Maryland, a father and a loving husband. And Atakilti is my name. I have offered a public debate with peoples like you and no one dared to respond affirmatively to my request. That is if you and your audience are civil and professional during the debate.

One of your accusations of the current regime was something I found outright false and based on forejudgment of Tigrayans. It is the issue that has to do with country being a land-locked country now. I politely ask you to go back and correctly recall the realities in the years of 1989, 90 and 1991 particularly those in Eritrea. We Tigrayans had nothing or very little to do about it. The fate was sealed in those years. Secondly, I want you to delve into the archives of history particularly about agreements and treaties signed by the Ethiopian Emperor Menelik right after the Battle of Adwa. I ask you to be fair and correctly analytical when going though the facts. I don’t think you will come to your current conclusions after you look at these facts and documents.

Until then, stop calling me a government spy. Few Amhara and Oromo friends who have known me for many years can attest to that even though we vehemently disagree about the current regime back home. And nothing is wrong with disagreement as long as individuals and groups do not resort to violence and terrorism.

    To Atakliti,
As it is mentioned in your comment, you claimed that you worked your way up to reach where you are now. I commend you on your achievements. However, if you wholeheartedly defend the current regime with all its 20 years of crime, and speak ill of each and every opposition parties and individuals left and right, then one could conclude that your judgment is biased somehow. I do not think that I have to know you to form an opinion about you and take a conclusion that you might be a diehard supporter of TPLF or not. As the saying goes, and as simple deductive theory “If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it must be a duck”
If you speak and think like woyane when you mention about”… your Oromo and Amhara friends” and attacking all oppositions by all means available, not mentioning a single wrong doing of TPLF on its two decades of bad governance and blessing them to be a life time PM and TPLF party that advocating “since we do not have organized entity to replace them, they may have to stay as long as it takes theory of yours will and discouraging the Arab spring uprisings put you as a biased TPLF supporter and the claim that you made as an “independent thinker” is not holding water. Further at one point you were trying to work as a woyane propaganda machine and dare to lecture the audience about Ethiopia’s progress under TPLF leadership quote”…. You need to realize and more so must wake up to see what is really going on back home. The train of progress is moving faster and changing gears by the day. The conductor has made the last call!!! Our Good Ole’Ma Ethiopia is on the move!!!She is getting younger and stronger again with all nations and nationalities tucked under her wings” end quote.
Are you talking seriously? I feel pity for you dear engineer. About 10 million Ethiopian people every year could not be able to feed themselves thanks to the woyane’s 11% annual growth, or are you trying to say that the 8 billion dollars squandered and left Ethiopia by TPLF mafia bosses that every one of them have millions of dollars worth of villas here in USA , and Great Britain and send their children to the most expensive foreign schools while millions of people could not afford to eat a descent one meal a day. Is that your “train progress faster and changing gear by day song? If you sing this song like woyane do you think that you are an independent thinker? I will call you Woyane as you squawk like woyane. Most Ethiopians who reads your comment called you woyane because they know it when they see one.
This kind of shortsightedness or biased outlook does not go along with the educated person of your caliber. When an engineer who work hard to be a plant manager is telling a story about the speed of the train and the conductor that has made the last call it is sad!!! Very sad!!!

    Dear Yohannes Ke Dallas:

I tried my best to tell you who I am and my independence. But you keep hating me. You mentioned that current government officials of Ethiopia easpecially those at the helm of TPLF have amassed wealth illegally including buying millions of dollars worth of real estate properties here in the US or Great Britain. That means you have hard admissible evidence of such illegal act. I don’t and I don’t condone such predatory acts. That is where you and I can forge a united struggle. Lets lay it all out on this esteemed website. I am sure they are in league with me as journalists they are always out there looking for hard facts. Please bring them all out. They should be exposed. They should be reported to the IRS. I will be out there picketing with you in front of such properties. I work very hard to earn what I have now and I know what I had to go through raising children. Both my wife and I used to work two jobs usually 16 sometimes 20 hours a day to make ends meet. I performed very well at worked and reached to my current position through hard work. All that hard work that gave one heart attack did not land me in 3,500 or 5,000 square feet house. It is a modest house but I am satisfied with it. So if you can prove it to me that certain government officials have illegally amassed wealth out of the country, then that can be a deal breaker for me. So, please, please, please, I am begging to post addresses of such properties along with the owner’s names on this website . I am calling upon the editors of this website to validate such claims and call for picketing in front of the properties. And I will guarantee you that I will personally write a letter to His Excellency Eric H. Holder Attorney General of the United States about the case. I am begging you to come up with such a list. I will stand with you no matter how you hate because I am an Ethiopian by way of Tigray.

All of us should understand that Ag’mes are people, people with human hearts, people who were in the front lines many times fending off foreign invaders. Ag’mes are humans like all of you who happened to be different because they speak different language. There only crimes might have been the fact that they were wrongfully forced into abject poverty. Now the name of their region is being used to mean a derogatory term and to designate them as devils and sub-humans. But all of you(I am not sure if you personally ever used that term) who have found romance with using this word to quench your bigoted thirst have really under estimated the resilience and resolution of these people. They have vowed not to live the same lives. They have pulled themselves by their own bootstraps and are moving out of destitution and on to the promised land of descent living. There is nothing on this God Given Earth that justify calling another black man a ‘ni”er’. None.

    Dear Atakiliti,

I believe all what you said about your hard work. I also believe that you are one of those Ethiopians who want to see justice, equality and democracy in our country. What I am in doubt is, about your song of the train that depicts progress in Ethiopia, according to your contention, that train is moving fast and changing gear by the day and its conductor gives his last call… It is totally ridicules. The way I see it and most Ethiopians see it, that is the “anthem” of TPLF. That is the main reason I brought that simple deductive theory, which says “If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it must be a duck” That is the very reason I called you woyane.
The other point that I saw in your writings is that you get offended if any one speak the truth about any one from your ethnic origin and trying to defend all people from your region at any cost no matter what they did. Ato/Engineer Atakility may be from Tigray and that does not constitute a reason for you to act as a sole defender or an ally pattern to stand for and protect the entire people including a few criminals just because that criminal is from the part of the country that you come from. In my opinion that is totally wrong. I am an Ethiopian who traces my origin from four mixed ethnicities and never generalize or sided with any one because he is from here or there. I am in the late forties and got a chance to work and assimilate with most Ethiopian ethnical backgrounds and I never judged or think a person from his or her ethnical origin. None of us had a luxury to select our parents and our place of birth and we should never judge people by their ethnicity or nationality. This is my principle. By the same token I do not have any problem if the prime minister or the president is from Oromo, Amhara, Tigrai, Sidama, Gurage, Gumuz or any ethnic back ground as long as he is elected by the people to serve his term. But if one snatches power at a gun point and embezzle the country’s wealth, terrorize his own people and rules on iron feast and wants to be a life time ruler that is where my agony starts. If I am from Tigray region, I will not support the PM blindly even when he does commit a series of grave mistakes. That is the difference between you and me Engineer. However, the good thing is we agree in many aspects of our country’s present and future progress even though we are as you said many thousand miles away from home.
If you consider yourself as a law institution and needs a proof of burden to pass your verdict, it is your right. But as ordinary citizens, sometimes opinions of a few groups of people with vested interest may not constitute a fact but opinions of hundreds of thousands of people and well known and accredited international organization studies, facts, figures and opinions are considered proof of burden. We both know well that preservation of proof does not mean that the crime was not committed.
It is not a rocket science or it is not required of me to be a psychologist, to follow up and explore your contradictory assertions and motives in light of your current demand of proof of burden for those looters who amass wealth at the expense of famine stricken and destitute millions of Ethiopians. Trust me, you can’t have it both ways, i.e. you can’t be a staunch supporter of the current regime and a prosecutor as the same time. Anyway, when the time is ripe, the general public will open the can of worms, I am not bluffing, then thousands of facts emerges to light and that starts from Berhane Geberekirstos in Brussels, Berhane the treasurer of top TPLF looters is the key person who has the map of the hidden woyane treasure that have been accumulated since 1984 and he knows where all the money are stashed and where the properties are located by whose name and what amount of money in which bank in different accounts all over the world from China, to Singapore, to Malaysia and a few portion to London and to USA.
    God Bless Ethiopia,

    Dear Yohannes Ke Dallas:

You and I are not trying to brainwash one another but continue to have a discussion that started to conclude with a business note. I don’t see name calling and I have not noticed you calling me an Ag’me. It shows your parents had raised you properly and like me racist remark or name calling disgusts you as well.

In regards to the evidence, God Almighty is my witness, I need permissible evidence. I travel frequently to the Pacific Rim countries you mentioned in your comment and I have forged excellent friends with a few citizens in those countries. Once I came upon an upscale store owned by embassy officials both from Kenya and Tanzania. The shops were high end jewelry stores that sell items mostly out of my reach. Malaysia may try to attract looters from Africa who profess the religion of Islam, Singapore and Hong Kong may be open for everyone. So I don’t doubt your assumption where some looters from our own homeland might have done that already. These looters can be some junior government employees committing such crimes below the radar screen. If there are such heinous creatures out there, do we have to believe without a doubt that Prime Minister and his closest friends had sanctioned such acts? I don’t know and you don’t really know. As men of religion, we should have hard evidence before assailing people. Even if he knows and has not tried to stem off such exodus of the country’s wealth, and more importantly he no shares in the loot, he can only be criticized for not doing some thing about it. He did not commit a crime.

I am also very glad that you have mentioned the name of an individual who currently resides in Europe and possesses a well documented map of such secret accounts. You remember, such acts are considered illegal by any countries standards. And these days those Far Eastern countries and some Caribbean islands are under the hot seats for giving shelters for shady bank accounts. Therefore, I am giving a pleading shout-out to the gentleman you mentioned to put every hard evidence he has on this website. The world public opinion is very sour when it comes bank account flush with looted money including Switzerland which used to a haven for such devilish looters. I am waiting and will keeping waiting for the evidence. I will keep my head open without any prejudice for such a report. Please!!! Please!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I have a question or two for you:

    1) What is your opinion about some people with grudges going out and destroying public infrastructures such as cellphone towers, internet and phone lines?
    2) Do you think these public or private properties should be considered as military targets?

In the meantime, I politely ask the editors of this website, if there is a way where they can move up this headline and keep it there for a few days so most people can easily see it. This gentleman and I are having an exemplary discussion that may go down as the most revealing discussion that can start an international sensation. By sensation I mean it can lead to an exposure of a loot of historical proportion if any. Let it rip!!!!

    To Atakilti,
I just want to draw a picture of you and want to see you in my mind’s eye and my curiosity led me to dig deeper and wants to know with whom I am cyber talking.
Starting with the preliminary data that you provided, I did a little research to complete the jigsaw puzzle about a person called Atakilti “…who is living in Maryland studied engineering and works as a plant manager, a father and a loving husband. “
It was you who wrote the above hyphenated sentence for two main reasons. 1) To introduce yourself and 2) by doing so you provide this bogus personal picture of yours to defend or hoodwink your readers that you are not a TPLF spy or staunch supporter thereof.
Can you guess what the revelation of my research was???!!
1)No legally registered person by the name/last name Atakilti lives in Maryland State.
2)There are 12 Atakilti’s first/last name living in the US in three different states i.e. California, Texas and Georgia that are near to the age group.
3)One person who lives in California age 46 named A. Atakiliti and the other F. Atakilti who happens to be a softwar engineer by profession.
4)The 3rd person that resembles your personality is Atkiliti E. an Aiga forum contributor.
5)My hunch is that you are #4 from Aiga forum unless you prove otherwise.
6)Why you need to be so bamboozle figure, is there anything that you want to hide, or are you undercover operative of TPLF spy machine?
7)If you are #6, it is a good try, though you show to the world that you lack proper training to be a good cyber spy. If however, if you insist that you need proper training you might collect valuable data from the comfort of your home using such magnificent technology.
8)You might be one residing in Ethiopia, Canada or Europe that could not be listed in US where you claim you are and why on earth you are telling that you are residing in MD?
Conclusion: I wish you prove me wrong, but tracing back and re-reading your writings shows that there is something fishy and my guts tells me all along that you are some kind of freak hiding behind your bogus name working ( spying ) for some hidden agenda of some sort probably assessing the public anger of Diaspora and fathoming the depth of dissent and to pass it to the people who send you out for this mission.
Last but not least, if my assumption sounds right, you have the right to remain silent and change your name, come back and try again, but if it is all looks to you a conspiracy theory, although It will be hard and difficult for you to regain your audiences trust as you started the conversation by lying, you might need to provide a concrete proof that you are the person that you claim you are. Then and there only, starting with an apology, we could continue our discussion.
Verdict: Guilty. till proven innocence. Charged with tresspassing the boarder and collect information by diguising himself as a genuine …
As I am disappointed to see you go, I was enjoying all the conversation exchanged through this spectacular media. Thanks Abugida, you makes us feel good by breathing out our frustrations.

    To Yohannes Ke Dallas:
What a waste of time on your part!!! The reason you resorted to looking after me is that you were not able to give correct answers to the questions posed to you. In fact, the anti-spy software I have installed on my computer has detected intruders in their tracks. It has tracked them and I plan to talk to my lawyer about it. Here I am a peaceful person just having civil conversation with persons from the same country is being attacked with possible damaging computer virus.
It is very revealing that the tools you found to be your best means to track me down have not yielded the results you hoped for. That tells a lot about you. What is your real motive for that? Do you any score to settle with me? I don’t. I will let my lawyer handle that.
I live in Maryland and in the same 3-bedroom house for more than 25 years. Now you want to evict me? No you can’t. I have been working for the same company for decades now. If you want to talk to me in person, I had offered to have a debate with you and your cabals before. You never replied that request. Now I have to go home and tell my family that from today onward we don’t live in Maryland!! In fact, thanks to Yohannes Ke Dallas we never did!!!Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!
