Ethiopian PM in ‘critical’ state in Brussels clinic

Brussels – Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi was in a Brussels hospital in a “critical” state on Wednesday, several diplomatic sources told AFP, but the Ethiopian government denied he was unwell.

“He is in a critical state, his life is in danger,” said a diplomat who asked not to be named.

In Addis Ababa, however, government spokesperson Bereket Simon denied reports that the 57-year-old premier was ill. “He is not in a critical state. He is in good condition,” the spokesperson told AFP.

In Brussels, the Ethiopian embassy refused to comment. It had said earlier this week that reports he was being treated at a hospital were “false and wrong”, and were a rumour created by “an interest group which has preoccupied itself in disseminating such untrue stories”.

But several diplomats in Brussels said he had been undergoing regular treatment on a private basis at one of the city’s major hospitals and had been in hospital for a few days.

No information was available on his illness.

Questions surfaced about Meles’s health when he missed a two-day African Union summit on Sunday and Monday, apparently for the first time.

Meles’s wife, herself a lawmaker, had declined to talk to reporters about her husband, who has been at the helm of the Horn of Africa nation since 1991.

One of last times Meles was seen in public was at the G20 meeting in Mexico on June 19.

Dozens of African heads of state visited Ethiopia for the summit, including newly elected Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, the first to do so since an assassination attempt in Ethiopia on former president Hosni Mubarak in 1995.

Isn’t he the worst human being out of 90 million Ethiopians. Why are the Eurpeans want to save this ugly so called prime minister unless they very know well IF HE DIES THEIR INTEREST WILL NEVER BE SERVED IN ETHIOPIA OR IN THE ENTIRE HORN OF AFRICA. I hope he returns back to Ethiopia and face justice with his boss, Mebrahtu G/hiwot.

We, in the opposition camp are busy talking about mele’s legacy(crime) and fanning his death or illness,on the other hand the remnants of TPLF and the CIA are busy working on how to stifle opposition in the aftermath(if he dies or is dead)and put an other cartoon in arat kilo palace in Addis Ababa
the best thing the oppositoin can do right now is, instead, be a little bit ahead and focus on
uniting the people of Ethiopia, both in side and outside the country(muslim, christian,amhara,gurage,oromo…..,oppositions,etc)
In my view Meles death is not a solution by itself to claim back Ethiopia from inside and outside colonizers.
Forget about meles now!, meles is not what most people think he is, he is just a simple Cartoon,if he is gone another Cartoon is on his way to Arat kilo(“a polished, smart,Genius diplomat”-at least that is what we will be soon told and we start to believe so,right?)

If I correctly understand what TED is “the best thing opposition Those with national agenda and those with ethnic agenda) can do do right now is, instead, instead be a little ahead and focus on uniting the people of Ethiopia, both inside and outside the country (muslim. christian, amahara, gurage, oromo.., oppositions” (parties and factions) under the goals for unity, territorial integrity, sovereignity, sovereignity of Ethiopia and Ethiopians as counter measure to ethnic federalism, secessionism and totaliarinism, supported by the teletafi (ethnic federalist) and loyalist (ethnic federalist) opposition parties, forming a front with UDJP along with Tigrai-Harena of ex-TPLfites, where the front serves as nothing more than mirror image of TPLF/eprdf, and TPLF/eprdf in the wake of the illness, and absence of TPLF leader is being run by two deputees in stead of the currently appointed Deputy Prime and Foreign Affairs Minister Hailemariam Desalegn as an attempt to reinforce the status quo of the Politbeurro.

What I don’t understand is that how is it that there is no one opposition declaring “every Ethiopian unite and opposition unite!” I have a feeling if they ever call out for protest and removal of TPLF, they are being blackmailed that the country will be in civil war because ONLF, Shaebia and OLF are on stand by to start war with Ethiopia. I think this maybe the black mail. The opposition will have no choice but to have another puppet TPLF in power. This could be the only explanation why there is no one taking this advantage to oust TPLF and EPRDF.

Let the Crime Minster Meles suffer for days, months and for 21 years as he has been torturing Ethiopians for the last 21 years. All Ethiopians should rejoice and celebrate the end of the most hateful evil dictator that abused his power beyond ones imaginations, hates Ethiopia and Ethiopians, left Ethiopia landlocked, robbed the country, locked up hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians, tortured Ethiopians, sold our fertile land and our Ethiopian women to foreigners, mass murdered Ethiopians in Gambela, Gondar, Ogaden, Tigrea, Welega, and Somalians, etc. Meles was simply Evil.
Hopefully, the opposition leaders are working in close doors with Obama Administrations to transfer leadership peacefully and create a real Democracy in Ethiopia and give deserving a sigh of relief to Ethiopians in and outside of Ethiopia. Thank you God!

G7 – Dr. Berhanu said on ESAT that the economic development started by Meles will continue may even do better? In case something happens to Meles. He also talked about the importance of building institutions of Democracy matters the most; meaning in the absence of institutions leaders matter even more?

After Mao’s death in 1976 China’s economy grew 3 times than it was prior. Deng is credited for that; Chinese economy grew even higher after Deng.

Even if we equate Meles to Deng the transformation should continue then.

What we know is countries that death of a leader created substantial damage are not few.

What Dr. Berahnue said is weather with Meles or without Meles we need to get rid of the evil system what the evil Meles brought from the jungle. What matters the most is to replace the system that work for th people, with people and by the people. The evil’s illness is just one minor event.

To clarify: Dr. Berhanu’s better econ. growth prediction is based on replacing the existing gov. with a Liberal Democracy one.

He said the fast growth of China in the long haul won’t keep up so growth with “freedom” is what he advocates.??

All the news we hear is AFP said this , BBC said that, VOA said another… what is exactly happening with zenawi only known to TPLF politbureau. Unless the woyane junta come out and tell the truth the only conclusion is zenawi is dead.

There is a power struggle developing between Woyane tigres and shabia, both of whom make up the TPLF politbureau. the shabia element having the upper hand. UNTIL THEY SORT OUT, WITH THE HELP OF THE CIA WHO WILL BE THEIR LEADER THEY WONT COME OUT AND TELL THE TRUTH.

To Abugida editors!!! You hacked all my comments previously for no apparent reasons just because I happen to be sitting on the other side of the isle. It should not be your area of task to omit my comments. That is called censorship however you look at it. I thought you abhor censorship. This is a public site and I am part of the audience. I demand you let my comment ride and I am picketing in front of your website holding a placard with such demand.

From my reliable sources Our Most Benevolent Prime Minister Meles is recovering at home from a bad spell of cold. That is all. You loafers here in the Diaspora keep forgetting that Our Most Revered, Most Intelligent Prime Minister is 100% immune to all deadly illnesses. This Modern Day Disciple of Jesus Christ will walk on this very good earth with a mission from God to eradicate all facets of misery afflicting not only our people but the entire people of Africa. His presence is crucial in every effort. Just look at the recent AU Summit. It was so boring without him that they rushed it through. መለስ የኔ ወንድም ጋሼ ቶሎ ና!!!
I dared you last time to a bet but none of you have the guts to come forward and have a wager with me. Ok I will up the ante this time. My wager is that Our Most Benevolent Prime Minister will beat the cold he is battling now and will come back stronger as our famed black lion. Anyone of you want to bet? Anyone? If I lose and you have no criminal record or intent, I will let you drive my Mercedes S600 for a day. And if you lose you will do every thing I tell you about our Most Benevolent Prime Minister and the government he leads thenceforward. Anyone?

Meles will die if not today sometime in the future. The issue should be what next. I think the opposition cannot recreate a new Ethiopia but build on the existing transformed Ethiopia. They should focus on how to effectively use the constitution to advance rights of all people instead of dreaming to come to power for the same old game. Yes the current previledged class of TPLF need to be abolished by or by crooks and this would be the first order in the rejuvenated and normalised Ethiopia.

Who was the lady poet who said, and how aptly she might said of Meles. It was after Menelik II claim the kingdom of Shoa after his captivity in Gonder. Bezabih Diker who was tourched alive crisp. “You were cruel to people,it is only divine justice you were deserved to be treated barbirically in the way you meted out justice to others”. No more gloating and throw hig-fives for I belive every living person has to die.It is ironic that Brusell gave the order to eliminate the revoultionary Patrice Lubamba of Congo, now saving to prolong the life of this ungifted clown of Tigray. It is the death of narrow Tigryan nationliesm that I want not meles
