This is the best objective reporting I have so far heard on CNN. Thank you Erin Burnett for so clearly articulating the human rights violation of tyrant Zenawi on the watch of the US government squandering one billion dollars of taxpayers’ money annually to keep a genocidal leader in power.

Even if your reporting is not complete, interrupted, it is true Chinese are everywhere, including small scale business on tomato and potato cultivations along Debre Zeit road and mobile maintenance shops in Merkato and Piazza (Addis Abeba). This is because you government ignore peoples choice and prefer to support dictators with a card called fight for terrorism. Which makes them blind look to see the foundations a fake government structure in Ethiopia, because of selfish feeling?

I highly commend this insightfull observation by Erin Burnett of CNN in which the the TPLF/eprdf regime has carried over from the Derg regime that of totaliarinism with monopoly of land ownership by the TPLF/eprdf regime, denying free market capitalism and democracy to the silent majority of Ethiopians, and yet makining it available to TPLF, TPLF affiliated enterprises, cadres and foreign corporations and subjecting the silent majority of Ethiopians to abject poverty, exploitations, polical, economic strangle hold of the country’s resources and environmental degradation as indelibible legacy of the leadership despite the accolades by the western leaders, blind sighted to their use of $1 bill dollars implemented under the chinese model of State Capitalism, rather than free market capitalism, with private ownership of land and/or mixed econmic model. The $800 million/1 bill would go a long way to alleviating poverty and food security if $100,000 is directly deposited into the 80 million Ethiopians,s account for the government to run its day to day affairs from the taxes to be collected, as long as these funds are not for infrastructures, to say the least the money that had been siphoned out of the country, eventhough it is understood that grant in donated to the regime onbealf of the Ethiopian people.

The legacy of ethnic federalism, secessionism and totaliarinism still lingers on with the ongoing adminstration steered by TPLF Politburro, with the loyalist opposition parties (ethnic federalist) parties under OPDF/EFDF/fdre, which are imlicit supporters of the constitution and had been seeking for political space and equality among the killil mengistats/ethnic zones, but nt for individual freedom, liberty and equality to supercede ethnic and secessionist rights, in order to form a democratic government of the people, of the people, by the people to restore Ethiopian nationalism and the sovereignity of Ethiopia instead of maintaining the staus quo of ethnic federalism, secessionism and totaliarinism in the form of State capitalism.

What a stupid and uninformed commentary from CNN. This is not the olden days CNN;it has long converted it self to a tabloid magazine. and Abugida is where zombies enjoy themselves.

President Obama support Ethiopian dictator. He praised him as well after he is dead. Obama does not deserve my vote or anyone who run away from dictators. In my opinion if you vote for Obama this coming November, it means you agree with his point of view supporting dictator like Melese Zenawi!!

I don’t get it. Only the confused ask if it is a dictatorship or not?

Our country does not have any other history but dictatorship. The question for us is, given the last dictatorship (Mengistu’s) was in crisis what path should we have taken? If we find this one in crisis again as well, we should ask the same question?

Liberalize the economy or Democratize first is the question Meles answered.

With all the short comings of Woyane, it seems Meles eventually arrived to a reasonably good conclusion. That is, seeing USSR democratize first and collapse quickly to disintegration while China took a different route by liberalizing the Economy and found success, the choice was and still is hands down to anyone except for the likes of Erin of NBC.

The World Bank and others who are more or less bank rolled by China seem to endorse the China Model by default.

So no one is surprised when US looks the other way because they don’t have a better alternative of getting us out of poverty.

    Erin,
Thank God that you haven’t gotten the memo from DLA PIPER. You are one of the few journalists that have done their homework and reported the truth. Thank you for doing your job well! The muzzled and the suffering Ethiopians wanted the truth be told about the brutal human rights abuser of the century dictator Meles. There is more to tell, Erin. Please keep on investigating about the billions of dollars the former dictator, his wife and the TPLF thugs have stolen from the mouths of starving Ethiopian children and stashed it in various countries around the world.
In behalf of my fellow Ethiopians back home who are suffering needlessly at the hands of TPLF, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and God’s blessings to you and your family.

Awaji, awaji, awaji. Yesema lalsema yinager. We Ethiopian will never give our own vote to Obama in coming November presidential election. Because he has gaven money for meles regim and gun for his miliary jaint in the horn of Africa to kill, jail an rape thousands and thousands of people in Ethiopia and Ethio-Somalia. He blasphemyshing in the future of Africa’s Democracy by appreciating the dictator, even that Meles was called a dictator by many American medias and human right organizations and known reporters. This would be taken as an issue and as aquestion for him in public media. I had never expect to here that kind of comment from Obama. He is so unbalance, because he knows how much Ethiopians have been suffered. Me, many other Ethiopian and African friends decided yesterday not to give veto for him. Our move will be continued this way to reveal the truth about Obama what he has done to our country and people to the whole African American and the rest people who need to see the prosperous Africa.

    Thank u so much.
Yesema yasema lalsema. Obama will not have a vote from many african American and the rest people those who need to see the changed Africa. Gos bless you all.

Those of you the intellectual untellectuals(yemihuran iwiran), usually university professors (90% of you) and the likes are who bring tragedy to my Ethiopia. Your ideology and/or party association is more important to you than the individual freedom of an Ethiopian. That is why you became killers, netch shibir and kei shibir owners, the ihapaites and meisonites, now the woyanites. That is why there is no unity amongst yourselves and in return gave easy ride for Meles for 21 years.

    Dawi,

Only Ethiopians must get themselves out of abject poverty not U.S or anyone. Again this dependent mentality must stop. Ethiopia will be on the right direction when it follows the following: Ghana style where they studies democracies of the world but also used their own tradition stystem, the same Ethiopia must do that. The well being of people to live their traditional system that made them survive with one another for centruies. This model can be reformed of course. For example, I like the Gadaa system and other. Such especialy social system must stay to bring coexistance rather than copying from outsider such as Wahabism or Marxism or Leninism, espcieally why would you want to copy when it has been proven that it has not worked for other nations? It is such stupid to do that , yeas of course dictators do it for their own interest not for the whole being of the nation.

Very well said. The problem is still EPRP, they are all over the diaspora causing havoc and not to mention most like Adissu Legesse fully work for TPLF what big change they brought. They still want to be relevant in Ethipoia’s politics. I say we should root them out their mind is already contaminated.
