Respond to Professor Messay Kebede Article By Kaleab Tessema

I barely remember a long time ago, Professor Messay had given a speech at Columbia University and I was there to listen his speech, and his speech was not inspiring to me at all. I can not even recollect the topic of his speech, just that he was speaking about the Amhara ruling class but he did not mention the name of Amhara. I could infer this from his speech.

Professor Messay Kebede has subsequently written articles on the current Oromos students uprising in which he urges that the Amharas should join the Oromos’ students protests against the Addis Ababa master plan. Of course, it is everybody’s desire that Oromo and Amhara should be united to end the cruel TPLF tyranny regime. Indeed, Oromos can not win alone against the TPLF; Amhara’s participation is very crucial and effective to bring down the TPLF government. It is true that as J.K. Rowling stated, “we are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.”

However, I assiduously read his last rebuttal titled “Then and Now: A Rejoinder to my Critics.” Professor Messay seemed disenchanted with Amharas because they did not join the Oromos’ students uprising in Ethiopia. He further said, “ነገ በኔ ነው”

I just would like to remind Professor Messay that, since TPLF came to power, the Amharas have been isolated and targeted for the last 25 years, and certainly, Messay is very aware of what Woyanne did and is still doing to Amharas. I wish the Professor had written similar article criticizing the TPLF/OLF regards to the 1992 mass slaughters of pregnant women and children in Arbagugu and in Bedno where the worst crimes ever committed on the Amharas since Mussolini’s aggression in 1935. Not even long ago in Gura Ferda and in Benishangul, the Amharas were expelled by TPLF surrogates and the Professor did not write any article denouncing these horrendous crimes. I am dumbfounded that the Professor jumps to accusing Amharas not being participated in the Oromos students protest against the master plan.

Let me briefly attempt to elucidate to Professor two main reasons why the Amharas lack of participating with Oromos’ students protesting against the Addis Ababa master plan. Firstly, Woyane and Shabia sagaciously and systematically designed the ethnic lines of federalism in order to control the country by perpetuating the punitive policies that emphasizing the anti-Amhara ethnic group. This restrain is inimical to the Amharas. Such cunning strategies that enable TPLF to remain in power by creating an envy between ethnic groups, particularly, among Oromo and Amhara. Hypocritically, Woyane tells to Amhara that if Oromo comes to power, your life will be at risk. The same thing, Woyanne tells to Oromo that if Neftegna comes to power again all your properties would be confiscated. So, we are the one who freed you from chauvinist Amhara, and if you try to resist us, you will go back to the system that you had before. Basically, they just made Amhara and Oromo not trust each other.

The second reason is that Woyanne quietly annexed large chunks of land from part of Gondar and Wollo to create greater Tigray. After they confiscated the fertile land (especially from Gondar), the TPLF day one, disarmed the people of Gondar, and started eliminating the original inhabitants of Welkait Tsegede, Humera to replace the Tigraians peasants. Since then, the Tigraians peasants became armed to protect the land in the areas where it was ferociously taken from Welkait Tsegede farmers. The indigenous who resisted the TPLF’s demonic action, were cruelly executed by Woyanne cadres.

Beside this, the whole Amhara regions run by the so called the Amhara National Democratic Movement (as vanguard Amhara party), which purposely created to demonize the Amharas. Realistically speaking, in Oromia region, the people of Oromos are represented by Muktar Kedir and Almaz Mamo who are belonged to Oromo ethnicity, but when it comes to Amhara regions, imagine, the Amharas people are represented by Bereket Simon, Kassa Tekile Berhan, Tsehaye (Tadese Tinqishu), and Helawi Yoseph who are of Tigre ethnicity. These fake Amharas individuals play a big role for Woyanne by quashing the Amhara voices. So, since the Amharas are heavily under controlled and its voices muffled by the ethnic apartheid regime, I don’t see this as an optimal time for Amhara to join the Oromo’s protesting at this point. Professor Messay was supposed to look at the other side of the problem: what Amharas endured under the TPLF rule the last 25 years. These are the main reasons halting the Amhara to join the Oromos’ students protests against the master plan.

In spite of that, I want the viewers to know that I am not trying to instigate the matter for either to reprisal the Amhara on Oromo at this point, I am just trying to acquaint to Professor Messay’s views on why Amharas have not instantly joined the Oromo’s student protests against the master plan.

Having said that, the Professor’s last article insinuates that if the Amhara does not the join the Oromo’s students uprising, there will not be unity in the country because unity is the Amhara’s strong faith and assumedly if the there is no unity, the Amhara’s existence in Ethiopia will be at risk. In other words, as if the only beneficiary out of unity is Amhara. As the matter of fact, he is not the only speaking about these issues. There are quite a few secessionists and anti-Amhara who rant on the same ideas. I’d like to reiterate that the article written by Messay is one sided, threatened, and divisive. The professor knows well that the Amharas have been victimized since the TPLF climbed to power. In his single articles, I have never seen any criticizing or condemnation for the Woyanne’s diabolical crimes against the Amhara ethnic group, and the articles are unbalanced when it comes to the Amharas issues. It is true that the unity of the two large ethnic groups is paramount at this crucial time to bring down the TPLF brutal regime.

To the end, the professor’s article does not entice the vast majority of Amharas at all. Actually, the article reflects, as if the Amhara ethnic group is uninterested on Oromo causes which aggravates the rift between the two ethnicities instead of bringing a reconciliation where these two ethnicities are able live in harmoniously. It will take time to repair the damage done by TPLF. TPLF’s “divide and rule” strategies worked out well for the last 25 years by abetting the extremist to do heinous crimes to innocent Amharas. At the end of the day, Woyanne whatever systems are used to stay in power, it is an inevitable that all ethnicities will ever become united again.

    For all naïve and extremist educated and other Oromo elites, I have to say one thing to you. Simply blaming and hating Amahara time and again does not help you any longer to solve the current crisis in the so called Oromia or in Ethiopia in general. You have been blaming and hating Amahara by calling Neftegna. Now the worst Neftegna (TPLF) is already in power. Another one is that there is no practical way of directly implementing Oromia for Oromo based on the current TPLF demarcated Kilil.It is not simple like sharing a difo dabo. There will come an incessant conflict and bloody civil war if the current Killil is to be directly implemented. The claim of some juvenile Oromos as if the current Oromia Killil belongs only to them is just delusional fantasy. Who legitimized the Oromo Killil for Oromos? TPLF?OLF?EPLF? To tell you frankly even TPLF does not allow oromia for oromo fantasy to be realized. TPLF is just appeasing oromos as if they are having better Killil freedom for oromia than Amharas or other Ethiopians have in their killil. It is just a crafty political game to cheat oromos.
    Oromos better fight for their true freedom in unison with other Ethiopians.Oromia kilili for Oromo motto does not take them any further. However as an Ethiopian fighting the land grab under the disguise of Addis Aababa master plan,which directly affects their life, is their inalienable right. We have witnessed so many oromo farmers displaced from their ancestral lands, for a penny thrown to them, and then doomed to become beggars with their beloved family. I believe that a sufficient amount of money (at least 75 % of the market price) has to be given for rural or urban dwellers according to the current market price of the land any time they are displaced from their land. Who mainly benefits from land sale is TPLF and Tigre and some other affiliates in the bureaucracy. Therefore, one side the Oromo uprising against TPLF land grab as an Ethiopian is legitimate and deserves support. But what makes it illegitimate is its further continuation in the direction of Oromia for oromo. If naïve and delusional extremist oromos raise only the last 100 years history of Menelik expansion against oromia ,the issue of expansion does not end by this only. Other Ethiopians can also raise the very expansion of Oromo itself for the last 500 years. Oromo itself has made expansion and occupation against Sidama, Amahara and other ethnic groups. So why some oromos only refer history what is advantageous and suitable only for them? If we engage in such destructive debates of past history based on ethnicity and land occupation it will continue nonstop with no end. That is why some Ethiopians go to the extent that the current ethnic politics in Ethiopia is very satanic with very destructive outcomes. It is like a child playing with fire. Even some TPLF insiders admit that ethnic politics will one day come out of its “genie bottle” as a monster and turn against the very interest of TPLF and Tigres them selves. It is TPLF and Tigre ethnic groups who have accumulated a vast amount of wealth for the last 25 years and they are the ones living better life in Ethiopia today. It is like the saying you reap what you saw. They must have been the first to denounce ethnic politics and stand up for Ethiopiawinet. However since they are one the wrong side of history they failed to do this. For TPLF and most Tigres Ethiopiawinet makes sense for them only in terms of material wealth they accumulate and the business they make. Ethiopiawinet must not be considered as some thing we love it and respect it only when we get advantage from it and the other time we disrespect and deny it when we are disadvantaged. No one as such begs or appeases another one to become Ethiopian and fight for Ethiopia. And no one as such pushes away another one to deny and deprive of his Ethiopianity. Thinking this way is such a childish political game. Amharas or Tigres or Oromos do not have such far reaching responsibility to beg one another to become Ethiopian. Ethiopia was established and maintained its sovereignty not by begging for Ethiopianity. So silly to think like that because so many lions, hyenas and vultures are all around us waiting to immediately to embark on to devour their prey. Let alone by making such childish ethnic political games, I doubt whether we can save ourselves from predators by making unity. Therefore, unity in Ethiopianity is neither a complacent demand nor an oppressive demand but rather an obligation of no choice for our common survival issue. The only reason TPLF or OLF and other ethnic extremists inculcate ethnic politics is because they have established their own selfish business alliance with foreign predators for their shortsighted hit-and-run business schemes. That is all. They do not care about future Ethiopia. They only know and live about today and only today and they do not know or care about the future.

    In any situation, the rule of jungle law is ” Might is Right” .This is especially true in Ethiopia because there is no rule of law that applies equally to all citizens . For as long as that is the case, every ethnic group has to organize and defend its members and interests. Hence Amharas have to organize and defend themselves. Otherwise I am afraid for the survival of Amharas as they are seen weak and not able to defend themselves and hence to be taken advantage of.

    If Haileselassie and menilike were Oromos, then how come they oppressed,enslaved and systematically genocided Oromos ? worse, how come they stolen Oromos land to reward it to their neftegna (showa amhara tribe ) ? How come king Menilike banned Oromos language from every oromos court and oromos municipalities and replaced it with Amharic language ?
    Or is it these neftegna kings (Menilike and Haileselassie) were Oromos but they are ashamed to be Oromo thus they declared war in their own Oromo tribe.

    The simple Answer is, “WE KNOW WHO THEY ARE AND THEIR TRUE IDENTITY NOT BY WHAT THEY SAY, BY WHAT THEY DO.”
    Because, we are what we do, not what we say. our actions speaks loud and clear.

    Two points to make. The Amharas are not helping themselves even in Gonder, how are they going to help. They can’t run their own affairs in wolkait how can they talk about other movement that is not asking for their help. They can participate in changing the system but they can’t be talking about the Oromos. To be honest, the Amhara base is shrinking because a lot of people who have been forced to take Amhara identity are coming home to their original identity. That must be worrying to them.
    The second point is that the Oromos are masters of their own destiny and they don’t need other groups to liberate them from oppression and it is high time that all groups recognize that.

    it seems to me that people like Messay kebede feel that they have done something useful by throwing insults and blames at amhara. How stupid! if messay kebede cares for oromo, the first thing he has to do is to ask himself, what can i do to help oromo protest.

    amhara are honourable ,sociable, group of people who articulate their Ethiopian identity like many other Ethiopians. I’ m sure Messay kebede feels the same way and he should engage himself in a more constructive manner to create amicable environment where people can work together.

Both of your writings are evident that you need to go back or stay in school. Professor Messay unravelled the bastardization of Amara nationalism with Tigre dictatorship causes people to lose their faculty of discernment – their capacity to disentangle the dictatorship from a nation and its people.One tell-tale sign one is suffering from such a disorder is the predictability of the reaction to enlightening articles such as that of Professor Messay.

    It is better to overcome the divisions created and orchestrated by the TPLF and practically support and join the ongoing mass protest in the Oromo region. These protests against the land grab and other injustices the TPLF leaders are committing can give a momentum to a national anti-TPLF movememt that can bring together and unite Ethiopians. They can serve as rallying points provided that they are inclusive and and mobilize all democratic forces. Thus, it is early and premature to conclude and argue that the Amharas or other non-Oromo Ethiopians are not taking part and have become simple onlookers. There are still the possiblities that the protests can spread and engulf the TPLf regime like a wild fire. The work and mobilization for a nation wide protest against the marauding rule of the TPLF
    should continue.

    እንግዲህ ይህ አይነት የተራቀቀ አደገኛ ሰው ጨራሽ ቦንብ ነጭ ከጥቁር አርያን ከአይሁድ እስላም ከክርስቲያን አማራ ከትግሬ ብሎ የማይመርጥ የመጨረሻው የሰው ልጅ መጠፋፊያ መሳሪያ ነው፡፡ይህ የሚያሳየው አንድ የሆነ ዘር የተቀረውን መላውን የሰው ዘር ረግጦ የመግዛት ካልሆነ ደግሞ ጭራሽኑ የማጥፋት ሰይጣናዊ አጀንዳ እንደሚያራምድ ግልፅ ነው፡፡ፖለቲከኞቻችን ዘወትር ዲሞክራሲ ብሄር-በሄረሰብ እያሉ ያወራሉ አሁን በአለም ላይ የሚታየው አጠቃላይ ሁኔታ ግን ፈፅሞ ከዚህ የተለየ አስፈሪና አስጨናቂ ነው፡፡ሀገራት እየፈራረሱ ወደ ጥንታዊ ጋርዮሽ ተቀይረው ህዝብ እየተሰደደ እየተሰቃየና እያለቀ ነው፡፡አለም በከፍተኛ የሚሊታሪ ውጥረት ውስጥ ነው ያለችው፡፡አንዳንዶች እንደሚሉት ከመስከረም-11 የኒዎርክ የሽብር ጥቃት በኋላ የ3ኛው የዓለም ጦርነት ገና ድሮ አስቀድሞ ተጀምሯል ነው የሚባለው፡፡ለምሳሌ በሶርያ ያለው ሁኔታ ወደ 3ኛው የዓለም ጦርነት እንዳያመራ የሚያስፈራ ነው፡፡ከዚህ ምን እንረዳለን?አማራ ትግሬ ኦሮሞ እስላም ክርስቲያን እያልን እርስ በርስ መተላለቅ እኛ የማናውቀው አንድ የሆነ ሰይጣናዊ ሃይል ግብር ጭዳ መሆን ነው፡፡አንዳንድ የሰለጠነው ዓለም ሊቃውንት እንደሚናገሩት ከሆነ አሁን ከሚታየው የሰው ልጅ አጠቃላይ እርስ በርስ መናከስና መተላለቅ ጀርባ አንድ የሆነ ሰይጣናዊ ሃይል አለ ነው የሚሉት፡፡ይህ ማለት በሰዎች መካከል በዘር በሃይማኖት በፆታ በእውቀት በስልጣኔ ወዘተ ደረጃ የፍላጎት ወይንም የአመለካከት ልዩነትና አለመግባባት ወይንም ግጭት የለም ለማለት አይደለም፡፡ነገር ግን በሰዎች በካከል ያለ የፍላጎት ወይንም የአመለካከት ልዩነትና አለመግባባት ብቻውን የሰውን ልጅ በኒውክሊየር ለመጠፋፋት እስከመፋጠጥ የሚያደርስ መሆን አለበትዎይ የሚለው ወሳኝ ጥያቄ ነው?ኒውክሊየር የመጨረሻው መጠፋፊያ መሳርያ ይሁን እንጂ በእርግጥ የሰው ልጅ እለት በእለት በሌሎች ድምፅ በሌላቸው መሳሪያዎች በተለያየ መንገድ እያለቀ ነው፡፡ሃሳቤን የማጠቃልለው የዘረኝነት ጉዳይ አጥብቆ ከተነሳ የሰው ልጅ እርስ በርሱ የተፋጠጠውና በስተመጨረሻ የሚጠፋፋው በሁለት ዋና-ዋና ዘሮች መካከል ባለ የማይታረቅ ተቃርኖ ወይንም ጠላትነት የተነሳ ነው፡፡የአለም አጠቃላይ
    ታሪክ፣የስልጣኔ፣የቴክኖሎጂ፣ሚሊታሪ፣ፆታዊ፣ማህበራዊ፣ባህላዊ፣ኢኮኖሚያዊ፣ፖለቲካዊ፣ሃይማኖታዊና መንፈሳዊ አጠቃላይ መስተጋብር ላይ የነዚህ ሁለት ዘሮች ጉዳይ ግንባር ቀደም ወሳኝ ሚና አለው፡፡ይህም ወሳኝ የሰው ልጅ ጉዳይ ከኦሪት-ዘፍጥረት ጀምሮ በዮሀንስ ራእይ የሚያበቃ ሆኖ በእነዚህ ሁለቱ ቅዱስ መፅሀፍት ላይ የሚገኝ ነው፡፡ስለዚህም ይህንን ስናስብ ነጭ ጥቁር አማራ ኦሮሞ ትግሬ ብሎ የከረረ የዘረኝነት ፀብ ውስጥ መግባትና እርስ በርስ መጠፋፋቱ አጉል ሞኝነት ነው፡፡አንዳንዴ ሁላችንም የአዳም ዘር መሆናችንን ማሰብም ይጠቅማል፡፡ሌሎች ጥቃቅን ልዩነቶቻችንን አምነንና አክብረን በጋራ ለሰው ልጅ ደህንነትና ህልውና በጋራ መስራት ይበጀናል፡፡ሁሉም የአዳም ዘሮች ከሚያለያዩን ጥቃቅን ነገሮች ይልቅ አንድ የሚያደርገን የጋራ ነገር ይበልጣል፡፡ይህንን አለመረዳት ለከፋው የጋራ ጠላታችን እራስን አሳልፎ መስጠት ነው የሚሆነው፡፡

    ፖለቲከኞች ምሁራኖች እባካችሁ የሽማግሌ ምክር እስኪ ስሙ፡፡
    እንደናንተ ፖለቲካ ፓርቲ መስርተን ሀገር ለመምራት አንችልም፡፡
    ምክንያቱም እድሜያችን ገፍቷል፡፡በመሰረቱ እኔ የዘመኑ ሰዎች አይነት ፖለቲከኛ አይደለሁም፡፡
    እንደዚህ አይነት ፖለቲከኛ ለመሆንም ፍላጎት ኖሮኝ አያውቅም፡፡
    ነገር ግን ቀጣዩ ትውልድ ሀገር አልባ ሆኖ በእኩይ ሃይሎች እየተሰቃየ እንዲገዛና እንዲጠፋ አንፈልግም፡፡የዜግነትና የሰብአዊነት ግዴታ አለብን፡፡እያወቅን ዝም ብንል በታሪክ በህሊናችንና በፈጣሪ ዘንድ ተጠያቂ እንሆናለን፡፡ስለዚህ ከህይወት ተሞክሯችን የቀሰምነው ልምድ ብናካፍላችሁ ጥሩ ነው፡፡እውነት መራራ ስለሆነ ቢመራችሁም ተጋፈጡት፡፡በመጀመሪያ ደረጃ የሀገራችሁን የዓለምን አጠቃላይ ሁኔታ ከቅዱስ መፅሀፍ ብትረዱ ጥሩ ነው፡፡የአለም ፖለቲካን በቅጡ ለመረዳት ከ ኦሪት-ዘፍጥረት ጀምራችሁ መጨረሻውን ደግሞ ከዮሀንስ ራእይ ላይ ለመረዳት ሞክሩ፡፡ይህንን ለመረዳት ደግሞ የበቁ እውነተኛ የሃይማኖት አባቶችን አማክሩ፡፡አለማዊ እውቀት ብቻውን ስለ ፖለቲካ ለመረዳት በቂ አይደለም፡፡ሀገርን ህዝብን በብቃት በጥበብ ለመምራት መንፈሳዊ እውቀትም እጅግ አስፈላጊ ነው፡፡ዝም ብላችሁ ትናንትም ዛሬም ነገም ዲሞክራሲ ብሄር ብሄረሰብ እያላችሁ የምታወሩትን ተመሳሳይ ነገር ጋብ አድርጉት፡፡ይህ አለም እና አጠቃላዩ ህይወት ዲሞክራሲ ብሄር ብሄረሰብ ከሚባለው ጠባብ እይታ እጅገ የተወሳሰበና የሰፋ ነገር በውስጡ እንደያዘ ልንረዳ ይገባል፡፡ሁልጊዜ ተመሳሳይ ነገሮችን ነው የምንሰማው የምናነበው፡፡ችግሩ መከራው ግራ መጋባቱ ግን ከእለት እለት እየባሰ እየቀጠለ እንጂ ሲቀንስ አይታይም፡፡ስለዚህ ከእኛም ዘንድ አንድ የሆነ ችግር እንዳለ ያመላክታል፡፡ይቅርታ አድርጉልኝና ተቃዋሚ የምትባሉት ሃይሎች የምትሰሩትን ነገር በትክክል አላወቃችሁትም ብዬ ለመናገር እደፍራለሁ፡፡ብልህና ጠቢባን ሰዎች ጠላቶቻችን ከሚሏቸው ጭምር ብዙ ነገር ይማራሉ፡፡ስለዚህ ተቃዋሚ የምትባሉት ሁሉ እንኳንስ ከእንደኔ አይነቱ ሽማግሌ አይደለም ከራሱ ከወያኔ ብዙ ነገር ለመማር ትችላላችሁ፡፡ቅድሚያ እራሱን የማያውቅ ቀጥሎ ደግሞ ጠላቴ የሚለውን ምንነት የማያውቅ ትግል ውስጥ ባይገባ ጥሩ ነው፡፡እንደዚህ አይነቱ ለራሱም ለተከታዩም ውድቀትና ውርደት ነው የሚያስከትለው፡፡
    ወደ ነጥቡ ለመምጣት የዘር ፖለቲካ አጥብቀው ከያዙት የራሱ አስፈሪ እውነት አይኖረውም ለማለት አይቻልም፡፡ምናልባትም አሳ ጎርጓሪ ዘንዶ ያወጣል እንዳይሆንብን እንጂ፡፡አለም በሁለት ዘሮች መካከል ከስነ-ፍጥረት ጀምሮ እርስ በርስ ሲፋጭ እንደኖረ ኦሪት-ዘፍጥረትን ማንበብ ይቻላል፡፡ለእውነተኛነቱና ለትክክለኛ ትርጉሙ የበቁ የሃይማኖት ሰዎችን ማማከርና መረዳት ይቻላል፡፡ቃየን ወንድሙን አቤልን ለምን ገደለው?የመጀመሪያው ነፍሰ ገዳይ ቃየን ነበረ ማለት ነው፡፡ቃየን ወንድሙን በምን ገደለው? መቼም በጠመንጃ ወይንም በመትረየስ ወይንም በመድፍ እንዳልሆነ ግን ለመገመት ይቻላል፡፡ነገር ግን አንዱ ሌላውን መግደል በቃየን ተጀምሮ ዛሬ የደረሰበትን መረዳት እንችላለን፡፡እርስ በርስ ለመገዳደል ጠመንጃ መትረየስ መድፍ ሚሳይል ጀት አልበቃ ብሎ ዛሬ ሌላ ደረጃ ተደረሰ፡፡የኒውክሊየር ቦንብ ለምን ተፈጠረ?ሂሮሽማና ናጋሳኪን ካጠፋው ቦንብ አስርና ሃያ እጅ የሚበልጥ የኒውክሊየር ቦንብ ለምን ተፈጠረ?

    የኢትዮጵያ ነገር በጣም የሚያሳስብ እየሆነ ነው፡፡ዘረኝነት የሚባል ትልቅ የሰይጣን ስራ እየገዛን ነው ጎበዝ፡፡እረ መፍትሄው ምንድን ነው?ሰው በዘረኝነት ሲጠፋፋ ማየት እግዚኦ ያሰኛል፡፡ህውሃት የሚባለውና የትግራይ ልሂቃን ስብስብ አማራን ታሪካዊ ጠላቴ ብሎ በጠላትነት የፈረጀበት ምክንያት ምንድን ነው?ህውሃቶች ዘረኝነት እንደዚህ አጥብቀው የያዙት ምን ይጠቅመናል ብለው ነው?ለተቀረውስ ኢትዮጵያዊ የሚጠቅመው ምንድን ነው? ህውሃቶች አማራውን ብቻ ሳይሆን አማራው የሚከተለውን የኦርቶዶክስ ሃይማኖት ጭምር ለማዳከምና ለማጥፋት ለምን ፈለጉ?መለስ ዜናዊ ወርቅ ሳይሆን ጨርቅ ከሆነው ህዝብ በመፈጠሬ እኮራለሁ ሲል ምን ማለቱ ነው?መለስ ሌላም ጨመረበት የአክሱም ሃውልት ለወላይታው ምኑ ነው አለን፡፡ህውሃቶች በዚህ አላበቁም የህውሃት ዋና መስራችና መሪ አቦይ ስብሃትም አማራንና ኦርቶዶክስ ቤተክርስቲያንን ከቤተ-መንግስት ሰልጣን በአንድ ላይ አለያይተናቸዋል ብሎ ተናገረ፡፡በቅደስት ስላሴ ካቴድራል የሚገኘው የመለስ መቃብር በወታደር እየተጠበቀ ነው አሉ፡፡በኢትዮጵያ ታሪክ ቤተ-ክርስቲያን ውስጥ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ የቀብር ቦታ በወታደር መጠበቅ ሲጀመር የመለስ የመጀመሪያው ነው ይባላል፡፡ህውሃቶች አማራንና ኦርቶዶክስን ለምን እስከዚህ ደረጃ ሊጠሉት ቻሉ?ቀስ በቀስ ለማዳከምና ለማጥፋትስ ለምን ፈለጉ?ካዛሬ ሃምሳና መቶ አመት በፊት የኢትዮጵያ ገዥዎች አማራዎች ናቸው በሚል ሰበብ ብቻ የዛሬው ምስኪን ድሃ አማራ የግፍ ጅራፍ የሚገረፈው የበቀል ሰይፍ የሚመዘዝበት ምክንያቱን ምንድን ነው?አፄ ምኒልክና አፄ ሃይለስላሴ ለሰሩት ስራ አማራው ይህ አይነት የበቀል ጅራፍ የሚገረፍ ከሆነ ሰይፍን የሚመዙ በሰይፍ ያልቃሉ እንዲባል በቀጣዩ ትውልድ ዛሬ ህውሃቶች በሚሰሩት መጥፎ ስራ የተነሳ ትግሬዎች ወደፊት ምን ይገጥማቸው ይሆን ብሎ ማሰቡ በራሱ እውን አይከብድምን?እራሱ ህውሃትን ከአብራኩ የፈጠረው ትግሬው ከዚህ ምን ይማራል?ኦሮሞዎችና ሌሎችም ብሄረሰቦች ከራሳቸው ከህውሃቶች ምን ይማራሉ?ነገ የእኛስ እጣ ፈንታ ምንድን ነው ብለው መጠየቅ የለባቸውም?አማራውና ኦርቶዶክስ ላይ የተቃጣው ሰይፍ ሌሎቹንም ቀስ በቀስ ጊዜውን ጠብቆ ላለመሰየፉ ማረጋገጫው ምንድን ነው?ህውሃት ገና ስልጣን ላይ ሲወጣ ኦነግን ሽፋን አድርጎ በአርባጉጉ በበደኖ በአርሲ ወዘተ በአማራው ላይ የተፈፀመው ኢ-ሰብአዊ የአረመኔ ተግባር ነገ በኦሮሞው በጉራጌው በጋምቤላው አይፈፀምም ብለን ጆሮ ዳባ ብለን መዘናጋታችን ትክክል ነበር? ነግ በኔ አለማለት የእኛ የኢትዮጵያውያን ዋና መለያ ባህሪ እየሆነ ከመጣ አልቆየምን?ዛሬ ኢትዮጵያውያን ልክ በሬዎች ወይንም በጎች አጠገባቸው ያለው ጓደኛቸው ተለይቷቸው ለእርድ ሲነዳ አይተው እንዳላየ ዞር ብለው አጠገባቸው ያለውን ሳር እንደሚግጡ እንስሳትን እንመስላለን፡፡ዛሬ ኦሮሞዎች አማራውና ሌላውም ከአጠገባችን መቆም አለብት እያሉ ሌላውን መውቀሳቸው እራሳቸውን እንደ ኢትዮጵያዊ ሳይሆን እንደ ኦሮሞ አይተውት ከሆነ ስህተት ነው፡፡ምክንያቱም ሁላችንም ኢትዮጵያኖች በተለይም አማሮች ኦሮሞዎችና ትግሬዎች ተቃውሞ መውጣት የነበረብን ወያኔ ገና ስልጣን ላይ ሲወጣ በበደኖ በአርባጉጉ በአማራው ላይ የጭካኔ ግፍ ሲፈፀም ነበር፡፡ተቃውሞ መውጣት የነበረብን ወታደሩ መሳሪያውን አስቀምጦ መንገድ ላይ ለማኝ ሲሆን ነበር፡፡ተቃውሞ መውጣት የነበረብን 40 የዩኒቨርስቲ ምሁራን ከስራቸው ሲባረሩ ነበር፡፡ተቃውሞ መውጣት የነበረብን ኢትዮጵያ የባህር በር አጥታ አሰብ ሲወሰድብን ነበር፡፡ብዙ ብዙ ማለት ይቻላል፡፡ተቃውሞ መውጣት የነበረብን ገና ድሮ ነበር፡፡
    ነገር ግን ኢትዮጵያውያን የተቆፈረልን የጥፋት ጉድጓድ እጅግ ጥልቅና ውስብስብ ስለሆነ
    አሰብ ሲወሰድ መሬታችን ለሱዳን ሲሰጥ ያልተቃወምን ለአዲስ አበባ ማስተር ፕላን ተቃውሞ ማሰማታችን በጣም ማንቀላፋታችንና መዘግየታችንን ያሳያል፡፡አማራው የህውሃት ዋና የጥቃት ሰለባ መሆን የጀመረው ገናድ ድሮ ህውሃት በረሃ በነበረበት ጊዜ ጀምሮ ነው፡፡ስለዚህ አማራው እንኳንስ ለኦሮሞውና ለሌላውም ጠበቃ ሊሆን ቀርቶ እራሱንም ለመከላከል የማይችልበት ደረጃ ላይ ነው የደረሰው፡፡ህውሃት የትግራይ ትግሪኝ መንግስት ለወደፊት እፈጥራለሁ ብሎ ስላሰበ የአማራው መሬት ለትግራይ ክልልና ለሱዳን እየተቆረሰ እየተወሰደ ነው፡፡በዚህ የተነሳ በወሎና በጎንደር በአማራው ላይ የዘር ማጥፋት የተጀመረው ገና ድሮ ነው፡፡ኦሮሞው አማራው ትግሬውና ሌላውም ኢትዮጵያዊ ይህንን አላየሁም አልሰማሁም ማለት አይችልም፡፡ህውሃት አንድ ፊቱን የለየለት የአማራ ጠላት ስለሆነ በገሃድ የታወቀ ነው፡፡ነገር ግን እራሳቸው የኦሮሞ ልሂቃን እነ ዶ/ር ነጋሶ ጊዳዳ ሳይቀሩ አማራውን ደንደሱን መተነዋል ብለው በአማራው ላይ ሲደነፉ አልነበሩም እንዴ?በእርግጥ የአማራ ወኪል ነን የሚሉት እራሳቸው እነታምራትም ላይኔ ሳይቀሩ አማራውን ዘልፈዋል፡፡በዘር ፖለቲካው እንሂድ ቢባል እንኳን አማራው እየተገዛ ያለው አማራ ሳይሆኑ አማራ ነን በሚሉ ተመሳስለው በተቀመጡ የትግራይና ኤርትራውያን ተወላጆች ነው፡፡በኦሮሞው ላይ ትልቅ የታሪክ ጥፋት የሰራው ኦነግ የሚባለው ዘረኛና አክራሪ ድርጅት ነው፡፡ኦህዴድ የሚባለው የኦሮሞ ድርጅት የሰራው ስህተት ልክ ብአዴን እንደሰራው ጋር የሚመሳሰል ስህተት ነው፡፡ነገር ግን ኦነግ ከኦህዴድ የከፋ ጥፋት ነው የፈፀመው፡፡ኦነግ ኦሮሞውን ኢትዮጵያዊ አይደለህም ብሎ ኦሮሞውን የማንነት ቀውስ ውስጥ የከተተውን ያህል በሌላ በኩል ኦህዴዶች በኢትዮጵያዊነታቸው አምነው ከወያኔ ጋር ተባብረው መስራታቸው ከኦነግ አንፃር የተሻሉ ምክንያታዊ ሰዎች እንዲሆኑ አድርጓቸዋል፡፡ከወያኔ ጋር ተሞዳሙዶ ያልሰራ ማግኘት ይከብዳልና፡፡ኦሮሞዎች ወደ ትክክለኛው መንገድ ለመምጣት የድሮውን የኦህዴድንም ሆነ የድሮውን የኦነግን መስመር መተውና ሌላ 3ኛ አማራጭ መከተል እንዳለባቸው ይሰማኛል፡፡ብዙ ኦህዴዶች ወያኔን እየከዱ መምጣታቸውም አንዱ ተስፋ ሰጪ ማሳያ ነው፡፡ኦሮሞዎች በኢትዮጵያ ታሪክ ውስጥ ያላቸውን ጉልህ ሚና እና ኢትዮጵያዊነታቸውን እንዲክዱት ያደረጋቸው ኦነግ ነው፡፡ሌሎችም አስተያየት ሰጪዎች እንደተናገሩት አማራውን ከዚህ በኋላ ነፍጠኛ እያሉ መውቀስና መራገም ምንም የሚሰጣቸው መፍትሄም ሆነ ጥቅም አይኖርም፡፡በእርግጥ የዘር ፖለቲካን በማራገብ እንጀራቸው አድርገው በመያዝ በዚህ ጥቅም የሚያገኙ ጥቂቶች እንዳሉ አይካድም፡፡የኦሮሞ ልሂቃን የሚጠቅማቸው ኢትዮጵያዊነትን እንደ ድሮው መያዙ ነው፡፡
    በኢትዮጵያዊነታቸው ሊኮሩ እንጂ ሊያፍሩበት አይገባም፡፡ይህ አይነት የታሪክ ፈተና የእኛ ብቻ ሳይሆን የተቀረውም አለም ጭምር ነው፡፡የሰለጠነ የሚባለው አውሮፓ አሜሪካ ጭምር ከዚህ ተመሳሳይ የታሪክ ፈተና ሙሉ በሙሉ የፀዳ አይደለም፡፡ፅጌረዳን ከነእሾሁ ልጅን ከነንፍጡ መውደድ አሳን ከነእሾሁ መርጦ መብላት ግድ እንደሚለው ሀገር ችግር አለባት ተብሎ ኢትዮጵያዊነትን መካድ ተገቢ አይደለም፡፡ሀገር አፍርሶ ሌላ ሀገር እግነባለሁ ብሎ ማሰብም ምን እንደሚገጥም አይታወቅም፡፡እንደዚህ እንደሚታሰበው አልጋ በአልጋ አይደለም፡፡ጦርነትን ያላየ የሰላምን ዋጋ አያውቃትም እንደሚባለው የምናጣጥላቸው የቀደሙት አገዛዞች ያስረከቡንን ኢትዮጵያን ዋጋዋ ምን ያህል እንደሆነ የምናውቀው ስናጣት ነው፡፡
    በዚህ ከቀጠልን ምናልባትም ልናጣት እንችል ይሆናል፡፡ያለሽ መስሎሻል ተበልተሽ አልቀሻል እንዳለው ገበሬ ኢትዮጵያ አደጋ ላይ ነው ያለቸው፡፡ፎቅ ስለሰሩ ሀብት ስላከማቹ ጥሩ ኑሮ ስለኖሩ ባለስልጣን ስለሆኑ ቤትን በአደገኛ አጥር ስላጠሩ ምንም አያገኘኝም እኔን አይነካኝም ምን ቸገረኝ ማለት የድንቁርና ሁሉ ድንቁርና ነው፡፡ሀዘንም ደስታም ሀብት ማፍራት ሁሉም ነገር ሀገር ሲኖር መሆኑ ልንረዳ ይገባል፡፡
    ህውሃቶች ግብረ-አበሮቻቸው የብሄር ፖለቲካ አራማጆች እንደዚሁም አብዛኛው ኢትዮጵያዊ በየደረጃው ሀገር የሚለው ትርጉሙና ፋይዳው ፈፅሞ አልገባንም ማለት ያስደፍራል፡፡ህውሃት ሀገር የሚለውን ትልቅ ነገር አዳክሞና አጥፍቶ ብሄረ-ብሄረሰብ በሚባል የማይጨበጥ የሰማይ ላይ ጉም ተክቶታል፡፡
    ኢትዮጵያውያንን እርስ በርስ የሚያስተሳሰረንን የጋራ እሴቶቻችንን ሁሉ በጣጥሶታል፡፡በዚህ የተነሳ ለህውሃት ሀገር ማለት ብሄር-በሄረሰብ፣ መኪና፣ ባቡር፣ ፎቅ፣ መንገድ ማለት እየሆነ ነው፡፡ለአብዛኛው ተቃዋሚ ደግሞ ሀገር ማለት ብሄር-ብሄረሰብ እና ዲሞክራሲ ማለት ነው፡፡ብቻ ሁሉም እንዴት እንደሚያስቡ ለማሰብ በራሱ ይከብዳል፡፡የሀገርን ምንነት ለመረዳት በሶርያ በሊቢያ የደረሰውን ማየት ትልቅ ትምህርት ነው፡፡የከፋው ነገር ሲመጣ ሁላችንም የዘራነውን ስለምናጭድ ምንም ነገር ሊያድነን አይችልም፡፡የትግራይ ህዝብ ከውስጡ የበቀለውን ህውሃት የሚባል ሰይጣናዊ ሃይል ምንነት መጠየቅ ያለበት ወቅት ነው፡፡ለመሆኑ የትግራይ ህዝብ ህውሃትን ተከትሎ አብሮ ገደል መግባት ወይንም አብሮ መጥፋት አለበት እንዴ?አማራ ጠላቴ ነው ኦርቶዶክስ ሃይማኖት ጠላቴ ነው ሁለቱን ማዳካምና ማጥፋት አለብኝ ሲል የትግራይ ህዝብ አዎ ትክክል ነው ብሎ ይቀበላል ማለት ነው?እውን የትግራይ ህዝብ ከአብራኩ የወጣው ህውሃት የሚባለው ቡድን የትግራይ አይሁድ የበላይነትን በኢትዮጵያ እፈጥራለሁ ሲል ዝም ብሎ ይከተላል ማለት ነው?የትግራይ ህዝብ የሚያዋጣውንና የሚጠቅመውን እራሱ ስለሚያውቅ ፍርዱን ለራሱ እተዋለሁ፡፡

    The Oromo quest for freedom from suppression, repression and exploitation is not a question of blood relations! You need not be a pure Oromo to oppose blatant violation of human rights. You need not be Oromo to oppose the governmnet when it targets a certain group (be it ethnic, religious or political affiliation) it sees as an enemy and a potential danger to its total control on the political, economic and miltary spheres, and unleashes wanton killings, mass imprisonment and torture.
    For the Oromo, the brutalization of the TPLF is not the first crimes perpetrated against them in the name of one Ethiopia. The current Oromo youth are the 4th generation of Oromos being harrassed and killed just for being oromo. They were not free from physical or psychological harrassment unless they deny their identity or hide it behind the veil of ethiopiawinett as you do now. The question is, Why is it impossible to keep one’s identity as Oromo (or somali, sidama, …) and be an Ethiopian by citizenship? To be a citizen of say Britain or Germany, you are not required to be british or german by blood. You have to pay allegiance to the democratic constitution of the respective country. You have to abide by the laws and regulations and respect the culture and norms of the country.
    Well, in Ethiopia, not only that democracy is absent (except in the names of the country and almost all political parties), but also a plural thinking and tolerance to the right to have a different opinion than the prevailing one. Intolerance to differing opinion comes not only from the ruling elite. It is pervasive even on the ethiopian social media.
    As an Oromo (100%), I do not believe in DNA. The Oromo do not believe on purity of blood. Had it not been so, they would have not developed and perfected the culture of “Guddifachaa”, “Moggaasaa”, and “Luba-baasa”. “Guddifachaa” is adopting a child with full right and duty of being a child to his parents;
    “Moggaasaa” is the integration of a non-Oromo family, clan or group and grafting onto the Oromo clan system following a thorough and solemn ritual and oath of allegiance to equality, fraternity and brotherhood; the integration is freely initiated by the non-oromo group. “Luba-baasa” is the integration of the adopted group into the Gada class system. That is how the Oromo became such a great homogeneous nation. The Oromo culture is based on freedom, equality and brotherhood long before the proponents of the french revolution marched under this motto.
    The quest of the Oromo for freedom is not a blind desire for secesion but a quest for respect for their unabridged right to be free from any political and cultural oppression, and the right to determine their own fate. If that right – a true cultural, economic and political autonomy in the form of true federation – can not be respected within the bounds of Ethiopian, they uphold the right to build an independent Oromia. As far as I know, that is the principle the OLF is promoting – enable the Oromo and Oromians (including non-oromos living the true spirit of ijoollee Oromia) to freely voice what type of government and association with other nations and peoples in Ethiopia they want to have, in a referendum free of any form of pressure from any group. That is the true spirit of democracy.
    In such Oromia, you won’t be harrassed for expressing your opinion, whether you are 100% or 0% Oromo. The principles of freedom, equality and fraternity will be the spirit of governance, a politics of grass-root democracy based on Gadaa culture. It may seem too ideal, but that is my dream for all those who would live in future Oromia, and if possible in the whole of Ethiopia.

    Injustice to one is injustice to all. Injustice to one oromo person is injustice to all Ethiopians. So, no need to only demand empathy from Amhara people. All peace and justice loving Ethiopians are expected to empathize. Every ethnic group in ethiopia, including the tigria people, are oppressed and are in constant struggle against the brutal TPLF and GANG dictatorship. Since every ethnic group is totally consumed with there own struggle, we should not expect them to have extra time/resource/energy to go another region in order to support a struggle. Remember, in Ethiopia the vast majority of people are totally consumed with struggle to secure the basic necessities of life. They have to spend over 90% of their time/energy to secure food/shelter and clothing for themselves and their family. Therefore it will be good enough if they are able to muster enough energy/time/courage from where they are to do damage to TPLF and company on a consistent basis. Since we in diaspora are not consumed with survival issues day in day out, we should use our time, energy and resources to help all Ethiopians who are fighting against TPLF.
    With regards to Emperor Menilik, he was an autocrat and slave owner. Therefore, he not only oppressed the OROMO people but all Ethiopians. During his time things are done by force. MIGHT IS RIGHT. HE WAS EQUAL OPPORTUNITY OPPRESSOR.
    Remember, Haile Selassie lost power b/c he starved the Amhara people in Wello.

    This forum ,most will like to believe, is dedicated for the promotion of ideas.Most importantly, ideas that are deemed relevant how to move beyond the current political stalemate.Unfortunately, there is also another form of reality that has been habitually cultivated on many Ethiopian forums-namely the majority of the participants in here are the noisy diaspora who have nothing to do about solution seeking.But their main emphasis is to ascertain their inflexible but unprincipled position as an end to every thing.What is evident in the majority of these causes is we run to the issues that conforms our unique proclivity in this cause:emotional identification to the issue of ethnicity.

    For instance a case can be made by looking the titles of the articles on this site the majority of the respondents seem to be gravitated to issues that bear ethnics title than any other issues.

    Take for example, the article by Tadesse Nigatu entitled

    “Creating the Pattern for Democracy: A bottom up approach Creating the Pattern for Democracy”.
    Undoubtedly, his article is an engaging article.
    The author challenges us to come to these forums to learn one another,and in the processes to be willing to internalize certain principles about liberty and democracy.He invites us to possess these principles and demonstrate them in word,deed and life.Yet, only two people have responded to this and similar articles that don’t refer to Ethnicity.
    The reason is simple people for the most part we don’t want to change. Beside the idea of change demands of us to apply some principles , to devout some time and expend energy. Then this can too demanding for some to attain personal development. And the conclusion is if we are un willing to change it may be the noisy diaspora is irrelevant for any thing that demands practical application. This proves the point that many commentators come to these forums with preconceived notion to battle than to make reconciliation or assume personal responsibility.

    Here is my defense and a principle that I cleave to.I for one will not allow any person or organization to impose on me an Ethnic identity.Here is why.I am a child of God made in his image.Because my savior loved my soul and he purchased me with his own blood. See 1 peter 1:19; 1 cor.6:20; act.I am in Christ ; I am who Christ said I am, and its relevance is not just for here and now, but for all Eternity. Christ raised me and sited me in heavenly places with him Eph.2:6. This truth is so liberating I refuse to come down from this Lofty summit Christ has placed me ,and assume an identity some one wants to impose on me.I refuse to come down from this position and try to identify with this or that ethnicity.That brings me to the next point.You and can choose to do what your conscious clearly knows or choose to spend our life in vanity.For instance, placing my personal opinion as the center of the universe is one of those vanities. We can be sure when we refuse to change the option left this:spent your valuable time in dissension. Beside individuals in this forum can be come predictable. It is like, any one including Messay of Kaleb Tessema can rock the boat from afar. The rest is history this issue can easily trigger our crave for it. Then, it will becomes natural to come and salivate as the Pavlovian Dog . We can avoid this form of destructive behavior by asking few questions before we comment on this issues . Do I really need to respond to this article? What is the purpose of the author who wrote it in the first place? If I chose to respond do I need to use explicit words ?That is do I need to identify my self with the idea of ethnics?

    Due respect, I disagree with your comment that you tried to say that Messay Kebede is known by whole Ethiopians. In what way Messay is known? Messay is a character who has no firm stand against Woyanne. I think the author of the article tries to defend the Amara patience’s on Oromo’s students riots. I read Messay Kebede’s article and the article is exactly accused the Amaras being silenced while the Oromos’ students are killing by Woyanne which infuriates the Oromos.
    For your information, I came from Ethiopia 5 years ago. I was a college student in Gondar and if you want to know who is known by Ethiopians is Berhanu Nega not Messay Kebede. You might worship Messay Kebede is a collage professor, which he deserves respect for that. Look at Berhanu, he acquired his PhD from well known university here in US, and abandoned his luxurious living to fight The Woyanne to free Ethiopian people. I put off my hat for him. He really is my hero! Not Messay Kebede sir. I like most of Kaleab’s thought which shows exactly what happened to Amaras people. The writer acknowledges the realities what Woyanne is doing to Ethiopians. Kaleab has right to disagree with Messay Kebede’s speech. Then what makes you to offend? Be fair Mr. Anon. You said the article has no substance, because the Amara’s life does not matter to you, only it matters to you Messay’s article.     The one and only pragmatic solution to save Ethiopia from disintegration is for those opposition parties inside Ethiopia and the Arbegnoch and Ginbot 7 in the armed struggle is upon reflective thinking to coasce upon Ethiopian Nationalism of Ethiopia as a one nation state of multi-ethnic groups big or small to coalesce around the goals for unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty of Ethiopia and Ethiopians, where the last item refers individual rights to have precedence over ethnic and secessionist rights. These is the only stance to the current ideology of ethnic federalism(art. 46), secessionism Art.39 (1) and totalitarianism (art. 40)and developmental state capitalism built into the constitution along with art. 2, the flag, art. 8 the sovereignty of Ethiopia and art 10 (1 &2) about individual vs ethnic and secessionist rights formatted after the USSR, not the united States or other western democratic nations to establish people-oriented than ethnic-oriented government, where the individual freedom, liberty and equality super cedes ethnic and secessionist rights in a liberal and/or social democracy.

    The peaceful struggle launched by the opposition party coalition known as OPDF/EFDF/Medrek/fdre has its goals on respect ethnic rights: the rights to ethnic self rule, and ethnic self determination based on the newly demarcated ethnic boundaries/enclaves crafted by TPLF and Oromo elites, which are untenable boundaries serving as prelude to ethnic secessionism/nationalism, future boundary conflicts, ethnic cleansing, etc.

    In the context of the uprising of Oromo students over the Expansion of Addis Abeba into the Oromo region is based on maintaining ethnic federalism, secessionism and totalitarianism and or/or state capitalism, to achieve the goals respect for ethnic rights, “yekili mengistats iqulinet mebit mekeber”, democracy to be super imposed over ethno-cracy, minority now and majority in the future to which professor Messay Kebede urges the Amhara ethnic group to join by asserting: “Those who expect the Oromo to rebel by assuming the Ethiopian identity (Ethiopian Nationalism) forget that the notion of Ethiopia as a unitary nation has receded since TPLF and EPLF defeated the Derg (regime) and implemented the system of ethnic federalism”. This statement is baffling to any one in both the Oromo and the Amhara ethnic groups, who are consigned to Ethiopian Nationalism of Ethiopia as a one nation state where the ethnic groups are an integral part of Ethiopia, where the individual freely moves and settles owns properties and businesses with freedom of assembly and freedom of speech, freely exercising and developing their respective language and other cultures in hyper space, but not defined by political boundaries cannot be construed as terrorist act, subject to incarceration and torture for the 15-24 years.
