OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – About 75 protestors attended a demonstration outside the Oklahoma City office of U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe, saying he is blocking consideration of a bill that addresses human rights in Ethiopia.

But a spokesman for Inhofe, an Oklahoma Republican, says the senator has not placed a hold on the bill, which has not yet reached the Senate floor.

The spokesman, John Collison, says he planned to meet with the protest leaders on Tuesday afternoon.

During the peaceful protest, held across the street from 1 of Oklahoma City’s major shopping malls, many demonstrators held U.S. flags, while others held the red, yellow and green flag of Ethiopia.

The bill, which passed in the U.S. House, decries Ethiopia’s recent human rights record and opens the door for sanctions.

Great job done Oklahoma City Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopians there! My applause also goes to those brave compatriots of ours who denounced the dictator’s atrocious killings of 10 innocent refugees in Kenya and torturing of 4 journalists. I wish we all Ethiopians around the world denounced the cruel and barbaric act of the ugly tyranny which has continued to amass not only in our mother land but in the neighborings too. Please let us not forget our brothers and sisters who live in misery and fear of death which could be perpetrated any time by the tyrants’ security agents who are now freely acting in the neighboring countries there. These include our refugee brothers and sisters in Sudan, Kenya, Djibouti, Eritrea and Yemen.Any miss treatment and atrocities perpetrated on our citizens (we know it has been doing on them before) should at least be exposed to the rest of the World and the Embassies, Organizations like the UN, AU, UE, UNHCER and Human Right activists. We know they have become deaf to the cause but I tell you compatriots our collective struggle against the Evil will win at the end of the day!

    Thank you

The freedom loving force is still marching forward so the leadership must lead this in a united way. No going back to the self inflicting scenario of divisions!

A brave work at Oklahoma of Senator James Inhofe by freedom loving Ethiopians and friends! The Senator’s inflametory expressions about Ethiopians is adding salt into wounds of the Meles regime on Ethiopians.

    Freedom will prevail in Ethiopia!

our brothers and sisters have done a great job in Oklahoma . that is the symbol of good solidarity with our innocent ethiopia’s people at home. The same demonstration should be taken all over America in the same day on the same issue infront of every senator’s office and we must get enough insurrance for the passage of H.R2003. Please all kinijit chapters in north america, other civil organizations like gasha le ethiopia, ogaden’s human rights advocacy, ethiopia’s free press , all religious institutions and must join with H.R 2003 group to support them
