According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, one Ethiopian citizen was among the dead in a “terrorist” attack at the Mercaz HaRay yeshiva. The gunmen killed eight students and wounded 11 others. An American and French were also killed in the shooting, the deadliest attack in Israel in two years. An American and French were also killed in the shooting, the deadliest attack in Israel in two years. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice described it as an “act of terror and depravity.” According to the Israel Project, Avraham David Moses, 16, was a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen; Segev Peniel Avihai, 15, was a French citizen; and Doron Meherete Trunoch, 26 held dual Ethiopian-Israeli citizenship.Students were hiding under desks and “locking themselves in classrooms” said an eye witnesses. Police said the Palestinian who opened fire at central Jerusalem late Thursday night carried a blue Israeli identity card and came from east Jerusalem. Hamas accepted responsibility for the attack while Gazans reportedly celebrated the shooting.In an annual report, the Israeli defense ministry said “Iran is operating through the Shiite Muslim Hezbollah group in Lebanon and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.”On Saturday, Police said they have arrested eight people that might have connection to Thursday’s attack.
