Our source from Addis Ababa has confirmed that the preparations to hold the founding conference of the “Unity for Democracy and Justice Party” are well underway. The conference will be held on Saturday – June 14, 2008 at the Imperial Hotel in Addis Ababa. About 350 conference participants will arrive in Addis Ababa in couple of weeks from every corner of the country. Elders, prominent individuals and scholars are expected to observe the conference. The conference will end by establishing the “Unity for Democracy and Justice” party. It is well known that the party will submit all supporting documents to the national board in order to get lawful accreditation.

    Dear Ethiopians,

Focusing on small ideas and name calling does not take us anywhere. If we want to comment on something, let’s focus on issues and be critical on the subject matter. I am not saying that Dr. Berhanu and Eng. Hailu are untouchable. What I am saying is that we need to use our time and effort for more burning issues of our people such as reorganizing Kinijit/ Andnet and getting out of the devastating socio-economic as well as serious moral degradation.

    May God Help Us !!

tg, I appreciate your idea.Great minds discuss ideas not people. We should deal with the solutions for existing problem. We should not care about the number of organizations and individuals standing against woyane. We better discuss how to purge the thyranny from our shoulder. God bless Ethiopia!

How many times is an organization founded. You can’t found a company everytime members of the board are changed. Maybe Meles is the Chairman this time.

This should be an interesting event. Had it not conflicted with my school schedule I would have loved to at least try to get in! Although, best of luck – as Ambassador Bob Dewar said when he was leaving his post in Addis Ababa, a country without a serious opposition is not serious about democracy. Thus, a serious, strong and robust opposition party needs to be established to help ensure not only the implementation of the Ethiopian Constitution but to also ensure accountability.

I am pretty confident in Wzo. Birtukan. She will serve as a good President/Chairwoman of UDJ. Hopefully this time bad folks won’t infest the party.
