Our source from Addis Ababa has confirmed that the preparations to hold the founding conference of the “Unity for Democracy and Justice Party” are well underway. The conference will be held on Saturday – June 14, 2008 at the Imperial Hotel in Addis Ababa. About 350 conference participants will arrive in Addis Ababa in couple of weeks from every corner of the country. Elders, prominent individuals and scholars are expected to observe the conference. Our source from Addis Ababa has confirmed that the preparations to hold the founding conference of the “Unity for Democracy and Justice Party” are well underway. The conference will be held on Saturday – June 14, 2008 at the Imperial Hotel in Addis Ababa. About 350 conference participants will arrive in Addis Ababa in couple of weeks from every corner of the country. Elders, prominent individuals and scholars are expected to observe the conference. Observers from North America, Europe and other contents are also expected to attend the conference. Invitations have already been extended to members and leaders of the Support Committees in the US, Europe and the rest of the continent to attend this historic conference.

The party’s Bylaw has previously gone through an in-depth scrutiny and is expected to be adopted. There will also be discussions over the name “Unity for Democracy and Justice”. Forming of the leadership body and electing other party members democratically will be among the main agendas of the conference. This assembly will also form the national council and the national executive committee.

The national council will be composed of sixty regular and fifteen reserve members. The national executive committee will have thirteen members including the Chairman, two vice Chairmen and the secretary.

The conference will end by establishing the “Unity for Democracy and Justice” party. It is well known that the party will submit all supporting documents to the national board in order to get lawful accreditation.
