November 26 | ( EZ):

Kinijit Protest Thousands of participants in today’s Great Run are chanting slogans such as “Release the Prisoners”, “Woyane, Dangerous Vagrant”, “The repressed Kinijit is back”…. Protest songs are also being sung loudly. Some of the protestors are near ETV headquarter now and are condemning the station for being a propoganda machine for the Meles regime.

Protestors reach the palace
Two groups of protestors are infront of the national place right now. One group is chanting “Meles is a thief,” “Meles, release our leaders”.. the other group is saying “Don’t disturb him..he is chewing Chat”

Protestors condemn the Somali war
The Great Run protestors are condemning Meles’s declaration of war on Somalia. The slogan “Whose war is it? It is not Ethiopia’s..but Meles’s” is being repeatedly chanted now.
Protesters
Protesters Taking Shower after the run.

Lewit blog Today at 8:30am, an estimated 25 000 people gathered in Meskel Square to participate in the annual Great Ethiopian Run. However, almost immediately after the race began, the crowd seized the long-awaited opportunity to peacefully protest the escalating brutality of the EPRDF regime–demanding the immediate release of all political prisoners and an end to the dictatorial rule of Meles Zenawi.
Shouts of “Kinijit is back!”? and “Give power to the educated!”? mingled with slogans denouncing the Somalian invasion, and strains of peaceful hymns filled the air. Local police officers looked on in amazement as crowds swarmed the front of the ETV building, peacefully expressing their dissatisfaction and thanking Haile Gebre-Selassie for providing the opportunity to speak out against the mounting political oppression.

It is a wonderful day in Addis!

Idiots. Do you not know anything. First and foremost the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has not formally declared war against Ethiopia. Did you check out Meles Zenawi’s latest interview on http://www.waltainfo.com? If you did, you would know that Meles does not intend to declare war unless Ethiopia’s national security is seriously undermined by the Somali ICU. Secondly, I do not know about any protests at the Great Ethiopian Run, however, my sources have given me video documentation of the whole event from different angles and areas and I have not seen one protester.

One should understand is to show his discontent in a peaceful way. What I was doing yesterday was to ask the government to release all political prisoners and come to dialogue. Boycotting is not the only way to show our dissatisfaction. So what I saw yesterday is still there is a grate discontent among the public despite the fact that the propaganda which we see and hear every night. We have to ask ourselves what should be done in order to make peace prevail in our country. I have seen many websites and blogs about this protect which took place yesterday. And they way they reported it. Are we happy about this? Are we doing something to change the current situation about our country? We should ask ourselves about this .the grate work hasn’t done so far. I have to thank this websites to let me speak my mind .keep up the good work. semlkove from ADDIs ABABA

Mr Satnael, I think you are an opportunist and you don’t have a clear mind to see the Ethiopian situation under the regime of Meles.
“When we know that everthing has two sides, let us look at the bright side only.” I advice you to turn your scope of understanding in the right direction. Otherwise because of your blindness you’ll fall in the ditch in the near future.

    Dearest Smauel Gebru,

In all the history of the world there were lots of humankind devils whose images are still put a black scar on history.
Those are the people who denied to stand for the rights of the people. I can say that when we see those people we realize later on that these devilish people had an infiriority complex or had grown in a very bad manner. You are an Ambassador let us say. Shame on you, how on Earth are you an Ambassador presenting us saying ‘IDIOTS’ on the very beggining of your remarks on this page.

It shows us that how unlawful you are ! being a nervous person, being a one who doesnt have a manner to react to his people.
trying to preach us something more, do you think that we do not know what unbelivable mistakes you Gentlemen are doing on our people in Ethiopia? do you think that you are develepoing a country having taken the money given from the very unjustice brotherhoods of you ?

for the money you are getting from your western Lords you bow down, for the only reason the money you will get forward you shade a blood. are you saying that you are not going to fight somalians which we hear a word game from your current boss set a word game for your parliament? Are you telling us that we are invaded? Do you want to tell us that somalian militants cross the border of Ethiopia and trying to envade us? or Baidoa is belongs to Ethiopia?

I verly say , Beware unto you, A MAN SHALL REAP WHAT HE SAW ON THE FACES OF THE EARTH AS WEL HEAVEN.
I verly say unto you, SET THE CAPTIVE FREE !!! CHANGE YOUR PENITANTORY TO SCHOOL, CLOSE YOUR JAILS, RECONCILE YOURSELF FIRST WITH YOUR VERY NATURE, REDEEM YOUR SELF, STAND WITH THE PEOPLE.

First of all, A MAN SHALL EAT TO LIVE BUT NOT LIVE TO EAT. THE VISEVERSA IS WILD NATURE.

Sooner or Later victory is belongs to people, the truth shall set a human free !
at that moment have you thought of where to run? now the world is getting a village then where do you guys hide yourself anywhere you go we are there.

    del le Ethiopia hezb !

Samuel Gebru is not an ambassador yet. His trip to Ethiopia to visit Seyoum Mesfin was just to get known in the government. Samuel is a good boy, the woyane regime is just trying to make him the next spy.

We should support samuel not protest his organization. I do not live in Boston, but fellow Ethiopians, let us show that we support Samuel more than woyane. Let’s go to his events, lets support him, etc. Then, he will love us more.

Comments are good. Seems like “Ethio” knows something. Well, lets start with the fact, shall we?

My trip to Ethiopia was a time for me to publicize the organization and our work. The issue is that the disgruntled Ethiopian diaspora is so power-hungry that they’ve literally began flip floping. On one hand you all chant “democracy…democracy…” on the other hand you say Mengistu would have been better than Meles. You seem confused. If Mengistu is better than Meles that means that your whole “democracy” programme is really a plan to bring back ethnic chauvinism to a country already recovering from a deep wound. People like you spend day and night on internet politics. I’m sorry to break it to you but you simply don’t govern Ethiopia. Your lobbying tactics maybe good and well-planned, however, you are just manipulating congressmen that know nothing about Ethiopia.

I, at 15 years old have worked to save 11 Ethiopian women from fistula and have pushed a youth-oreinted cause. What have people like you done? People like you have only terrorized our people in Ethiopia. They vote for you and you cry fraud. Trust me buddy, EPRDF would never give Addis Ababa to “western educated academics” if they rigged the votes. They’d give you an unimportant city in the rural lands. Addis Ababa is the center of African politics. If CUD was smart, you’d take the city, make it much better than the EPRDF did and people would have confidence to vote you into federal power. However, you all have no minds but “I want power.”

    tazebe,

First of all, I am not the person wasting my life into taking down a government of a country I have no relation to. You all have US Citizenships and came here as asylum-seekers. You all have betrayed your country. As a US Citizen, you all should mind your own business. Secondly, “I am too dumb to understand politics” just won’t cut it. People like you have nothing else to say. You are a barking dog with falling teeth. You are desparate for power: “Kinijit voice of the people!” Right….I don’t think you’ll find that many Ethiopians in Addis ready to collaborate with Eritrea, ICU and OLF like you all have done. How do you expect CUD to be elected in 2010 when it works with the enemies of Ethiopia? Isaias waged a war against us, ICU is claiming jihad, OLF wants soveirgn Oromia, CUD is a crying baby for power… Wow! So many issues to counter. The more Meles gives you the silent treatment the louder you bark. Eventually people like you will fade.

Ethiopians don’t know anything but parties and politically-oriented or ethnically-oriented “debates” which turn out to be name-callings. Remember ESUM’s political forums? How’d that go for CUD? You all called them EPRDF-funded and woyane spies when they’re just university students getting educated (something you never did) and trying to ease tensions in their country. You say Legesse Zenawi, they say Meles Zenawi. You say regime, they say government, you say tyrant, they say Prime Minister.

Democracy has arrived and will stay as long as Ethiopia is known as Ethiopia. As for you all, don’t be looking for an invitation to the Ethiopian Millennium or a visa for that matter. Out of luck….. Continue to bark, I know many people on the Millennium council, including Mulugeta Asrate Kassa and Paul Henze….who do you know? 111 “political prisoners” that, in my mind, deserve life in jail. Besides terrorizing the youth of Addis you haven’t done anything “productive” per se.

I have established a non-profit non-partisan corporation, we are working with the youth and we’ve saved lives, and are well-known in Ethiopia for our good work. I have been invited to Ethiopia to meet with her Foreign Affairs Minister and State Minister of Youth and Sports.

Simply, you’re jelous. I understand it and frankly the word “compromise” is not in our vocabulary to do indeed, compromise. Your xenophobic ideology won’t go that long. Just the other day CUD Boston tried to pick a fight with me. That’s how lame you are all like, trying to fight a 15 year old at his own event. My foundation will be releasing a press release tomorrow. Be sure to check it out.

    Samuel,

You took too long to respond. It should not one take this long even to write a theses. It looks like Cambridge Public School System has failed you. You should be in school now instead of flirting with Woyanae. Trying to convince you is like pouring water over a black stone.
