Dr. Meknonnen Bishaw passed away

Dr. Mekonnen Bishaw Ethiopia’s most respected figure, Dr. Meknonnen Bishaw passed away today at 5:30 in Hospital. A funeral ceremony of Dr. Meknonnen Bishaw will be held in Minnesota, source close to his family said.

Dr. Meknonnen Bishaw had undergone some major intestinal surgery and was under medical care in the hospital, sources added. Meknonnen was one of the 42 professors who were summarily dismissed by the Meles regime from Addis Ababa University. He was the first person to rebuff and withdraw from the TPLF’s tribal-based administration and was a long-standing defender of human rights in Ethiopia.

    I know Dr. Mekonen, when I was a student AAU. He was a charismatic professor and human right activist. Ethiopia lost one of the brightest citizen. May God rest him in peace

    It was grief,grief to me and my family.We used to be teaching at the university together.A reliable colleague. We are lossing people one by one.These were the Icons of the nation served their people under difficult circumestances under differnt governments.Let the Almighty God rest his soul in peace
